Roku device factory reset itself after an update
Twice now in the last two weeks after what I assume were device updates, I've woken up to find that my streaming stick has been reset. It needs to re-recognize the TV, then I have to sign in to my account again, then I need to re-sign into any of the pay services I use (Netflix, Amazon, etc.). Additionally, it blows away all my favorites, which is great. I've had the stick for a few months now - is this the future I have to look forward to? If so, someone please let me know now. Thanks.281Views1like13CommentsMotion Smoothing turned on after an update
A year ago a software update added motion smoothing to my TV that could not be turned off. Eventually an update was deployed to my TV by Roku Support and the issue was resolved. Now, yet another update has added motion smoothing to my tv with no way to turn it off. Since the latest update my Hisense roku tv shuts off in random intervals and gets stuck in boot loops. I've checked to make sure that it has been updated and I've tried changing the electrical outlets that its plugged into to make sure that that isn't the issue. I'm having the same issues with a sperate roku player that isn't a roku tv.42Views1like3CommentsFirmware updates force HDR on older Roku TV models
I have an older Roku TV that doesn't have full HDR support, however recent updates hide the non-HDR video modes and force enable HDR. Because the TV doesn't have full support, the picture appears washed out. In this case leaving HDR off provides a much better picture. Thankfully there is a secret menu I can access, where I can disable HDR entirely. After doing this my picture looks great again. Sadly every time there's a new firmware update, HDR is enabled, and I have to go through the process of disabling it all over again. It's kinda annoying. So which is it? Does Roku not expect anyone to be using an older TV with bad HDR support? Or are they trying to make me think my picture looks bad so I'll buy a new TV? Either way it's pretty irresponsible, and I'll likely be going with a non-Roku TV when I do finally upgrade. And if anyone on the firmware dev team reads these forums, you can still turn this around. Just leave the non-HDR video options available, even if it's limited to older models. I'm not the only person having to deal with this, so please help and keep these perfectly good TVs out of the trash.55Views0likes1CommentRoku glitch after latest update

I have tried all of the suggestions, and my software is updated, it was doing the thing where it just stopped playing on the half hour and you could change to a different channel and change back to get your show back but apparently the “update” didn’t fix the issue completely because now my video just goes black randomly and comes back after several seconds, multiple times throughout the duration of a single show and it’s extremely annoying and we’re ready to scrap this TV! Was prompted to update my Roku so I did but it has now been stuck on the bouncing logo screen for well over an hour. I have tried everything suggested by community but nothing has helped. I have tried disconnecting hdmi ports, as well at rebooting my wifi router and it is still stuck. I even tried a full factory reset multiple times using multiple methods and nothing has changed, the Roku is still stuck on the logo screen.132Views1like5Comments
