TCL Tv in Factory Reset Without Remote.

I have the TCL Roku Tv 32’ model 32S331.. It is ONLY equipped with the power button and reset button. My son has lost the original remote, I’ve been doing extensive research on how to get past the factory reset screen that is displaying the language options, without the original remote.  I recently went invested into a new Roku remote from walmart and attempted the pairing method of holding the back button and the home button at the same time until the remote blinks, but the remote is still not pairing to the tv at all. I have tried this numerous times over the course of 2 weeks. I’ve tried the methods of using a keyboard, ethernet cable and etc.. NONE of these will work because I still cannot control the tv to properly select any options that are displayed. Should I just get rid of the tv at this point or are there any other solutions to this issue?

Since you don't see the remote pairing screen instructions, the Roku voice remote won't work with your TCL Roku TV if it's not activated. You'll need a Roku TV remote for this, just like the original remote you lost, which does not require pairing.

    Hello jlinds

We noticed your post that your TCL Roku TV is stuck on the setup screen where you need to select your preferred language, but the new Roku remote is not working to pair.

Could you tell us what type of new Roku remote you bought? A photo would be helpful.

In the meantime, visit this link for more details.

We have three types of Roku voice remotes, all compatible with Roku TVs. When you try to pair the remote with the Roku TV, do you see a pairing instruction on the screen?

        Try the following:

        • If your voice remote has a pairing button, it will be located either on the back of the remote or under the battery cover. Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash, to put your voice remote into pairing mode.
        • If your voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash.

        Hope this helps.

Do you any old universal remotes, cable oem remotes or Directv oem remotes hanging around? Roku tvs use a very old tv code from the 90's. List what you have brand and model number, of these old remotes and not your tv model. Anyways, I may have a working code for it.
