Lost remote, can’t access TV with app
Hi folks! This may be an unusual problem… or it might be frightfully common. I assume there’s no grey area! 😆
Anywho, I set up my Sharp 50” Roku TV a few months ago & have had little-to-no problems with it. It’s just a fantastic TV, with a great setup. But about a week or so ago, I woke up & couldn’t find the remote for it. I still have the cable box remote {I usually put the 2 by the side of my bed, so I can easily mute the TV if I wanna watch a Reel or something}
So naturally, I check all the places that make sense ~ under the bed, in the boxes that are close to my bed… nothing. I’ve started pulling up piles of washed laundry that I never got around to putting away… not there either. So I started using the Remote app… & that worked great, for a few days.
I noticed I’d have to Wake Up the TV, even if I’d left on a radio station overnight. Eventually it all but completely stopped working. Googling told me to uninstall & re-install the app. No difference. Then I did something that made sense, considering I assumed the app had a “scan for nearby devices” option… & I removed the TV from my Roku account. It’s asking me to put in the IP address, which I have no idea how to find, since I no longer have easy access to the TV.
I hope somebody can tell me this is @ least a somewhat easy fix. I don’t see anything on the original box it came in, or in the instructions. I tried using Siri to find my remote, or to test if it was a voice-command remote… no luck
