Yes, actually that was the first thing I tried....and, yes, it worked. But I really prefer not to have to do that. I would like to not have my Roku stick being powered on indefinitely. I would still like to click the power off and on to the stick, and the TV as well. (I know, I am old school.)
Here is my theory about this issue. Keep in mind it does NOT happen EVERY time, just maybe about 60-70% of the time. After turning the Roku & TV on, they then turn off when the Roku home menu is trying to load the little ad in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
So after turning on the power to the TV via the Roku stick, I wait until the Roku logo is done with the ROKU letters jumping and turning after startup. Then, I slowly repeatedly push the ↑ UP arrow until the Roku home page appears. Since I've been pushing the arrow button, the home page moves up a notch or two in the menu, thus getting it off of the actual home page before that lower-left ad tries to fully load. It takes roughly about ten clicks. And it all stays on.
I made a video of the shut down, then a video of me doing what I describe. However, this page says the videos, which are mp4, are not allowed here. Is there a way I can get them to you?
Thanks.
