Onn Roku TV shuts off and stuck in rebooting

I just bought a new 65” Onn Roku TV and set everything up. About 5-10 minutes after watching TV it froze and gets stuck in reboot like I initially turned it on, then a pop comes from the speaker and the screen goes black and back to the initial Onn Roku TV screen. I’m not sure what’s going on and I don’t want to have to return it and swap it out with another one. If anyone has any idea what’s happening or how to fix it to save me time from doing that, it’s greatly appreciated!

  • All that **bleep** they say to do does not work ended up having to get another tv cause this tv acting like it’s rebooting forever. They saying to go to settings. HOW??? Can’t get to settings it’s constantly rebooting. When I did get it back working from pushing button on back of tv. As soon as I got to an app on the tv it went back to the reboot. That go to settings **bleep** did not work. My advice DONOT BUY A ONN ROKU TV.

Agreed. I tried all the things that everyone said and just gave up and bought a new TV. It was in constant reboot for over a week, wouldn't even shut off without being unplugged. The last support said to contact the manufacturer because with my video it looked like a "hardware" problem. Not worth the effort.

    Hi, at5!

Thanks for your first post in the Roku Community!

We noticed your recent post about an issue with your Onn Roku TV, where it suddenly rebooted after 5-10 minutes. No need to worry; we are here to assist you in sorting out this issue. To begin, we require more information about this problem on your Onn Roku TV. You mentioned that it froze while watching a movie; we may inquire if multiple channels are affected. Additionally, do you have any other Roku devices experiencing the same issue? Lastly, what troubleshooting steps have you taken thus far?

Kindly attempt these troubleshooting steps to see if they help.

    • Restart your Roku TV through the system by doing this step.
    1. Restart your Roku player: Settings > System > Power > System restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
    2. Check Internet connection (Settings > Network > Check Connection) must be "Connected

Note: To improve your internet connection, try to reboot your WIFI router by unplugging it from the power outlet for at least 15 seconds.

    Regards,
    Elmer

When I googled this issue, the result came back with a “solved” tag which led me to this forum. Going out and buying a new TV is NOT a solution. My Onn Roku just started this same issue yesterday. I fact, I thought I was going crazy when when I woke up, my TV had turned itself on overnight. Onn/Roku are notorious for forcing system updates to the unlucky owners of these walmart Onn TVs. This is a SOFTWARE problem. More likely than not, the software was corrupted during the update download. Now it is hilarious when the tec says to check your internet connection. Kinda like when Bill Gates used to tell us to Control-Alt-Delete. This started with at5, and then continued with multiple other owners. It is hard to go to Settings for a reset when the Onn tv will not stay on long enough to accomplish. My guess is NOBODY solved this issue. I have another external ROKU Device which connects to a plain tv via HDMI and it works fine. So that tells me it is an Onn problem. Real solution: Buy another tv, just don’t buy Onn. Might also consider Firestick.

Yep! Exactly! I spent 600$ for this to keep happening’ i am so upset! And frustrated. It is definitely an Onn situation because i have Roku on my daughters tv! I am so upset over this it never stops … and the customer support is no help. They tell me to check my switches etc when my other tv has no issues same plugs. So frustrating

It freezes on every app and shuts off, then gets stuck trying to turn back on then shuts off again and repeats the process. I tried restarting it through the system, factory resetting to see if that was the issue, plugged it into a different outlet, and it still does the same thing

        Hi, at5!

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. We appreciate your efforts in bringing this to our attention.

Based on the details you provided, the problem seems to be related to connectivity. To resolve this, please check the stability and performance of your Wi-Fi connection, as fluctuations in speed or signal strength can cause delays. Make sure your network connection is strong enough to support multiple devices.

You can try resetting your TV network by accessing the system settings.

        1. Press Home on your Roku remote
        2. Scroll and select Settings
        3. Select Advanced System settings
        4. Select Network connection reset
        5. Select Reset connection

Note: Before proceeding with these troubleshooting steps, please make sure that you know your network name and password.

For additional options and detailed information, please refer to the support page. How to fix internet errors and issues on your Roku streaming device/TV

If the issue still persists, you can try to establish a connection using another network, such as a Mobile hotspot.

There are two options for using a Mobile hotspot.

Let us know if this step will make any difference.

        Thanks,
        Elmer

  • Mine keeps doing the 10sec rewind every 15min. I’ve unplugged and plugged back in refreshed. Restarted. Even did a factory reset. It’s completely up to date. It does it on every app I use. I took the batteries out of my remote. I’ve unhooked WiFi and reset up. I’ve done everything I can do. This has been a week or so. I’m about to sell it and never have a Roku again.

Any fixes for this? Mine started doing it this week. We’ve tried resetting to no avail. I’m going to start looking at other streaming players if this doesn’t stop.
