Hi, at5!
Thanks for your first post in the Roku Community!
We noticed your recent post about an issue with your Onn Roku TV, where it suddenly rebooted after 5-10 minutes. No need to worry; we are here to assist you in sorting out this issue. To begin, we require more information about this problem on your Onn Roku TV. You mentioned that it froze while watching a movie; we may inquire if multiple channels are affected. Additionally, do you have any other Roku devices experiencing the same issue? Lastly, what troubleshooting steps have you taken thus far?
Kindly attempt these troubleshooting steps to see if they help.
- Restart your Roku TV through the system by doing this step.
- Restart your Roku player: Settings > System > Power > System restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
- Check Internet connection (Settings > Network > Check Connection) must be "Connected
Note: To improve your internet connection, try to reboot your WIFI router by unplugging it from the power outlet for at least 15 seconds.
Regards,
Elmer
When I googled this issue, the result came back with a “solved” tag which led me to this forum. Going out and buying a new TV is NOT a solution. My Onn Roku just started this same issue yesterday. I fact, I thought I was going crazy when when I woke up, my TV had turned itself on overnight. Onn/Roku are notorious for forcing system updates to the unlucky owners of these walmart Onn TVs. This is a SOFTWARE problem. More likely than not, the software was corrupted during the update download. Now it is hilarious when the tec says to check your internet connection. Kinda like when Bill Gates used to tell us to Control-Alt-Delete. This started with at5, and then continued with multiple other owners. It is hard to go to Settings for a reset when the Onn tv will not stay on long enough to accomplish. My guess is NOBODY solved this issue. I have another external ROKU Device which connects to a plain tv via HDMI and it works fine. So that tells me it is an Onn problem. Real solution: Buy another tv, just don’t buy Onn. Might also consider Firestick.

Yep! Exactly! I spent 600$ for this to keep happening’ i am so upset! And frustrated. It is definitely an Onn situation because i have Roku on my daughters tv! I am so upset over this it never stops … and the customer support is no help. They tell me to check my switches etc when my other tv has no issues same plugs. So frustrating

I found my own fix. Went back to google and found another link which directed me to the small reset button on the back of the tv near the USB ports. It is not marked as reset, but I held it in for about 30 seconds and the Onn tv did a complete reset. I had to go back and activate my system and apps but at least “for now” it seems to work. Or at least until Onn wants to force another update on me.

That button was one of the first things I tried. It didn't stop the rebooting. My TV won't even shut off, it just keeps rebooting over and over again until unplugged. Once plugged back in - it starts that reboot cycle all over again. Thank you though.
