New Express Ethernet adapter

Is the new Express compatible with Ethernet adapters?

  • Afomf

The new Express 3960 is compatible/capable of using an ethernet adapter.  You can verify your model number by going to Settings/System/About on your Roku device.

    From Roku Support article, https://support.roku.com/article/360058027813

    Device Model

     Roku Express

     3960

     Roku Express 4K

     3940
     Roku Express 4K+  3941
     Roku Streambar™  9102
     Roku Streambar Pro  9101R2
     Roku Smart Soundbar  9101
     onn.™• Roku Smart Soundbar  9100

To maximize compatibility, verify that your ethernet adapter specs indicate 10/100 (not 10/100/1000), and has a AX8877X or SMSC95XX chipset.

    ---

Some users have gotten 10/100/1000 ethernet adapters to work, so if you have one laying around won't hurt to try it.  If you are going to purchase an ethernet adapter, best to adhere to the above specs.

  • Hi Afomf,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We understand that you are inquiring if the latest Roku Express is compatible with an Ethernet adapter.

Please be advised that Not all Roku devices support using an Ethernet adapter to connect to your wired network. To help determine if your device is compatible, you need to know the device model. To find this information, go to the home screen on your Roku device and select Settings > System > About.

The models below support an external third-party Ethernet adapter.

For full information on this, you can take a look at this link: How to use USB to connect your Roku streaming device to a wired network | Official Roku Support

We hope that we have addressed your question appropriately, but reply to this message if you have other questions and concerns, and we will gladly follow up.

    Best regards,
