Perhaps an Input/Source button.

i would like to hold down a channel button (like netflix or apple tv) for a few seconds, and have it do a voice search only for that channel.
- Emissary35Roku Guru
I want a setting created to completely disable ALL pop up notifications from the remote. This includes the battery level as well as "Hands Free Voice" notifications.

Better rewind/fast forward button responses. I can never get to where I want to go...ever! Very frustrating.

This is not useful - for Roku devices the remote does not control the TV. Volume and power yes, but not the tv. Thats what universal remote is for.
for roku TVs the input selection is available in the first tiles of the Home Screen. Your request would be redundant.

NUMBERS!!! So tired of scrolling and then it gets stuck for a few minutes or I have to literally unplug my Roku tv just to get it working again.
Get rid of the VERY LAME Apps on the bottom of the remote! Most of the time, I don't even have the Apps the buttons are for, most I will never get like Apple TV (only bc I don't want to pay thru Google Pay or Apple Pay). Right now I only have Netflix which I'll be cancelling soon and the others like Disney+ or Paramount+, I probably won't get. Isn't that what you have the Home Screen or Voice Control for?

I'd like the usual 4 movie/TV apps at the bottom of remotes gone entirely! They don't need to be there especially for those of us that don't use or have those apps on our TVs. I accidentally hit them all the time and it takes me out of whatever app I'm watching/using to one of these apps on the remotes. There's currently only 1 of 4 apps on the remote that I use the most that I subscribe to and that's Netflix (others are: Disney+, Apple TV & Paramount+).
I'd really like NUMBERS again in my remote! I miss them, I get so irritated scrolling to get to the channel I want. I have Sling TV that doesn't use numbers but others do like my Antenna, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, etc. I miss numbers darn it all!!

Your wish has been granted. The new Voice Remote Pro version 2 has a backlight. 🙂

I put my remote in a glow in the dark holder and add reflector tape to it. Hey, it helps.

Move the mute button somehow. When I pick up the remote I frequently hit the mute button. Also, I frequently hit the button with the moon on it (sleep timer) accidentally, mainly when I mean to hit the down arrow. I never use the sleep timer! Thank you for the opportunity to make suggestions.
- Emissary35Roku Guru
Not just the mute button but all the side buttons should be on the top of the remote, putting them on the side was a really stupid decision.
- TheBratBinge Watcher
I disagree about the volume & mute buttons being on the side. I like having them there so I can "feel" for the volume controls. If you have them in the face of the remote, the remote would need to be bigger cuz we have those lame channel buttons on the bottom of remote (mine has Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV and Paramount+). Those are absolutely not necessary especially if you don't have or use those TV apps.
- FranklinJRoku Guru
I did not know there was a sleep timer.

Our household likes the general size of Roku remotes, direct channel buttons and Roku's overall minimal approach to their remotes (all assignable direct channel buttons would be welcome though). We love that there is no numeric keypad, (numeric keypads on remotes are so BlackBerry 😉). Volume and mute on the side is also nice, easy to find without looking. ymmv
Roku's elegant voice remotes is actually one of the reasons we recently switched from using a Roku Ultra w/traditional HD television over to the new Roku TV Pro Series when replacing the older HD 1080p 3D television in our living room. In the living room we're down to two remotes now; the all in one Roku Voice Remote Pro v2 and a stand alone remote for the 4K BluRay Player and couldn't be happier. No more fumbling between remotes for routine daily viewing (a mix of OTA & Streaming), it's not often we fire up the shiny disc player anymore.
The Roku Ultra went to a guest bedroom with a traditional HD television and the other household sets are TCL/Roku, one is now running a v2 Voice Remote Pro and the other a v1 Voice Remote Pro. Currently the v2 Voice Remote Pro is a little wonky on the TCL/Roku television running Roku OS 12.5.5. Hopefully that will smooth out when the next Roku OS update rolls out to include TCL/Roku televisions.

A headphone jack on every remote model.
- atc98092Community Streaming Expert
A headphone jack will only work on a WiFi Direct remote, meaning the Voice remotes. The basic IR remote won't support headphones because there's no two way communication between the remote and the Roku. IR remotes only use a one-way path between the remote and the device.
Does the cheapest Voice Remote have a headphone jack? No, it doesn't. That's because the remote requires an audio amp within the remote to power the headphones, which increases cost and shortens battery life. Many users prefer having a lower cost option for a Voice remote, so Roku offers them with and without the jack.

Here's a fun remote feature thought, double-clicking on buttons performs a different task.
I'm thinking something like double-clicking on the [*] button, would then function as an info button of the current content(s) info overlaid over the content video without pausing streamed video.

Not so much a feature but definitely critical updates and changes REQUIRED
STOP RELEASING FIRMWARE UPDATES THAT TAKE AWAY FUNCTIONALITY WE PREVIOUSLY HAD, E.G. MY REMOTE USED TO CONTROL MY SAMSUNG TV, NOW FIRMWARE UPDATES HAVE REMOVED THIS ABILITY WHICH MEANS I NEED TWO REMOTES TO WATCH TV.
I HAVE FOOLISHLY BOUGHT 4 ROKU DEVICES ONLY TO FIND THE REMOTES ARE REALLY BADLY MANUFACTURED AND THE BUTTONS FAIL, PARTICULARLY THE ARROW BUTTONS UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT.
THE OLD REMOTE IS FAR SUPERIOR BUT YOU HAVE DISABLED THE VOLUME FUNCTION ON SAMSUNG TV'S
1. YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO OLD REMOTE MANUFACTURER, UNTIL YOU DO I WILL NEVER BUY ROKU AGAIN AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DUMPING ALL MY ROKU PRODUCTS.
2. YOU NEED TO PUBLISH EVERY ITERATIONS OF FIRMWARE UPDATES (BY MODEL) AND PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION FOR WHAT EACH VERSION FIXES. FIREFOX DOES THIS SO NO EXCUSES.
3. YOU NEED TO STOP FORCING UPDATES BY PROVIDING AN OPTION FOR USERS TO DISABLE YOUR FIRMWARE UPDATES, THE LAST ONE CRIPPLED MY REMOTE
4. YOU NEED TO PUBLISH YOUR CODES SO THAT 3RD PARTY UNIVERSAL REMOTE MANUFACTURERS CAN PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THE SHIITE REMOTES YOU MANUFACTURE.
5. YOU NEED TO MOVE AWAY FROM CLIPS AND PROVIDE SCREWS SO THAT USERS CAN ATTEMPT TO GET THE FAULTY ROKU REMOTES WORKING.
6. YOU NEED TO STOP PRETENDING YOU WILL REACH OUT TO CUSTOMERS BY PM WHEN YOU DO NOTHING OF THE SORT AND YOU NEED TO STOP MARKING POSTS AS HAVING PROVIDED A SOLUTION WHEN NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND. THE USUAL ETIQUETTE IS TO STOP NEW POSTS WHEN THERE HAS BEEN NO NEW COMMENT FOR 3 MONTHS. IF PEOPLE KEEP POSTING AND THERE IS NO THREE MONTH PERIOD WHEN NOBODY POSTS THEN THAT SHOULD TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM.

DanUK I've had this happen, an old Toshiba television in a guest bedroom with a Roku Ultra. None of the Toshiba codes worked so I tried different brand of manufacturer IR codes and found one that worked. I don't recall which manufacturer code ultimately worked, it may have been a Sanyo code.
If your Roku remote previously worked to control your Samsung and stopped after a Roku OS update perhaps it's possible the update mixed up the remote codes.
There is hope, keep trying different manufacturer codes if none of the Samsung codes are working for your television.
- DanUKStreaming Star
From the posts on this site it is clear that nothing got mixed up, the upgrade removed functionality, Roku has admitted it.
Such is the contempt they have for their customers, no wonder their share price has dropped from $473 to $49.

DanUK wrote:4. YOU NEED TO PUBLISH YOUR CODES SO THAT 3RD PARTY UNIVERSAL REMOTE MANUFACTURERS CAN PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THE SHIITE REMOTES YOU MANUFACTURE.
They do publish their codes, and 3rd party universal IR remotes do work with Roku devices that support IR. Just remember that the Roku Stick (any model of Stick) does not support IR, so will only work with an official Roku WiFi Direct remote.
Sorry you have had issues with their remotes. I can't say I've experienced the same problem, and I've been using Roku players for over ten years now. I no longer have a Roku connected to a Samsung TV, but the two I did had no issues with the remote working over CEC. I never bothered programming the remotes to use IR, because CEC worked fine for me.

Hi DanUK ! We'll ask our remotes engineer about your model of Samsung and see if we can try to help out. Would you mind posting the model here, along with the model of your Roku player so we can identify the remote attached to it?

Make a remote that can be paired with all versions of Roku that is rechargeable. I enjoy the games but they use way too many batteries. I have a rechargeable mouse for my computer and it is so cost-effective. With the prices of everything lately, it would be a great investment for any Roku user.
- atc98092Community Streaming Expert
jayjen512 To my knowledge the Voice Remote Pro (rechargeable) will pair with all current Roku devices. I believe it's only some very old players that it can't be used with, such as the very old purple Roku Stick and the Roku 2 XS (which used Bluetooth). But almost any player sold within the past 10+ years it should work fine. Maybe, perhaps, it won't work with the basic Express. But I never recommend that player to anyone because it's single band WiFi and lower power make it a poor choice when a much better player is available for only a little bit more money. The Express 4K+ runs circles around the basic Express and easily worth the extra $10.

I would add a button that when and if pushed sent a minor electrical shock to their CEO and I.T team for putting ads on my home screen without my permission.
They don't seem to understand nor care that I don't want them and I don't go into their house and start putting unwanted stuff on their living room walls.
I PAID FOR IT ALREADY.IT IS MINE.
Every single time they keep putting ads or adding stupid stuff to my menu I'd shock them until they realized that they need to stop.

[Previous Channel Return] Watching Over-The-Air local broadcast channels, it'd be nice to have this dedicated button for ease of switching between two different local broadcasts.
We just ordered one of the Roku TV Pro Series televisions yesterday for pickup Saturday. It comes with a new Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition) . It'll be interesting to see how this compares to the original Voice Remote Pro's we picked up for all our Roku devices.
edit to add..WOW, just discovered the Roku Voice Remote Pro v2 does have a [PREVIOUS CHANNEL] button. It's the, wait for it ↪️ button. At least on the new RokuTV Pro Series television running Roku OS 13.0. Our TCL Roku sets rewind a little in OTA, we do have USB sticks in them to pause LIVE TV.
- atc98092Community Streaming Expert
A remote with a numeric keypad. Not only for the TVs to select an OTA channel, but there's a number of apps that use numerical channels within their app. Pluto TV is a prime example. It's the main reason I won't buy another Roku TV (or Fire TV or Google TV, as they all seem to suffer the same issue).
