HDMI cable does not work on Roku TV

Hi, I'm having an issue using the HDMI cable plugged into my Roku TV. When I plug the HDMI into my computer it does not broadcast my screen to the TV and instead prompts me to start screen mirroring. The content I want to view is a copyright protected so that it does not work with screen mirroring. I have disabled screen mirroring and Apple Air Play in the Roku settings and this still happens. I have also tried multiple devices, all of which have the same issue so I know it's not my computer. I even tried a factory reset on the TV and nothing has worked.

  • What prompts you to start screen mirroring?  The TV or the computer?  Is this the main/only display or an additional display? (In the latter case, such as connecting a laptop to a TV, their will typically be a prompt about how you want to use the second display - mirror the main display, be a second display etc.)

  • The TV prompts it. A screen appears saying "Choose mirror or extend display" with no way to exit out of that screen and just get the HDMI function to work

  • That sure sounds like something a laptop would say.  Try clicking with the trackpad.
