Old fashioned rabbit ears with tin foil is not an option sitting on top of the TV? Should at least pick up local channels?

There are no "local channels".

Owatonna, MN is a growing, active, vibrant community with several world leading manufacturers.  That said, we are 45 miles from the Twin Cities metro -- double that to the TV transmitters.  Same or worse in the other directions (Mankato, Rochester, Mason City).
