    Roku app feedback

The Roku TV "power button menu" needs an option. "Connect to app". Movie night saved. Let me explain; I can't be the only person to have a lost remote and downloaded the Roku App thinking, "this will help until my new remote ships, I find mine, or I happen upon one in a store". If you have had this idea, it is quickly dashed when you realize that the app can't actually connect to the TV without a remote to set that up. I've learned to plan ahead now, setting this up in anticipation of a lost remote. Still, I shouldn't have to. I should be able to push the button on the TV and have an option of connecting to the app or making the TV discoverable from that power button menu. I know the Roku TV UI people and the Roku App people are probably not the same groups within the company, but how about having them work together and make it happen? No telling what other cross-department/team ideas are waiting on such a collaboration to discover. Alternatively, maybe just let the app search whatever wifi it's on for other roku devices also on that wifi for those who have the sticks rather than the whole Roku TV. There has to be a way to make that app connect without a remote. I'm convinced this problem is both common enough that plenty of people have had it, and solvable easily enough that nobody ever should.

Automatically launch the favorite channel after turning on

We are near to Roku. I greatly appreciate all of the helpful posts in here. As near as I can tell, the first "senior citizen" post was 6 years ago. Unfortunately, it appears we still don't have a viable solution. We are still trying to figure out a solution that is easier for senior citizens. The local Internet / TV provider recently discontinued TV services at my mother-in-law's senior living facility. Residents MUST switch to a streaming service if they want to watch TV -- and they really like to watch TV. It really looked like Roku was going to be a good fit. For younger generations who are more comfortable with streaming services, the Roku is easy to understand. However, I'm only a couple of days in for her, but it seems that moving from channel up / channel down to Roku may be beyond her comprehension. The staff tells me many of the other residents are experiencing similar issues. I have been programming her favorite channels near the top of the home screen. But they aren't really channels. They are apps. A couple of the "local" stations are pretty basic. But many of the desired apps are multiple layers deep once you get to the app. Even CTN (her favorite) has multiple "localized" versions of the same station. To use the default version requires multiple clicks to start playing. Most of her favorite channels are the same (or worse). Great for young minds. Dreadfully difficult for seniors. Any other helpful tips are greatly appreciated. This generation has earned an easy-to-use solution. They don't get all stressed trying to learn a completely different paradigm in their sunset years.

    Time and Temperature on Backdrops

It would be very helpful if backdrops could display an overlay with time and temperature similar to what Google does on Chromecast.

    Better trivia questions

In my many weeks of playing trivia I’ve noticed all the questions are “what actor played this” or “who said this” and honestly I’m not sure if anybody knows the answers to those questions. I think half the people who play trivia just guess on most questions anyway sooo it would be better and more fun if there were questions more people knew. Personally there should be questions about trending shows like Outer Banks, or Suits, etc. Idk. it could be just me but this is what I think :)

Feature Request: Option to Require PIN to Open Specific Apps on Roku

Please introduce a feature that optionally requires your account pin to open an app. Not all apps have decent parental control features. Simple fix!

    Roku simple remote feedback

I moved Mom's TV subscription to Sling so everything is on Roku—for me, the remote is so simple I can use it in the dark. My poor mom is confused by it and has trouble with small buttons. I found EZclicker in Amazon. Looks like a good solution, but it is only for Roku TVs. 😕 PLEASE, Roku, make something for (cognitively-impacted) seniors OR fix your licensing so that 3rd party companies can make remotes for your devices.

    Remotely controlling grandparents' TV

I was wondering if the Roku app would work to change TV shows/movies on streaming services (like Netflix) remotely from another house, if already connected to the intended TV? My grandad has been having difficulty changing channels himself, and we thought that the Roku app may be an option. I appreciate any information that you have!

Links to a show on TV

So my mother-in-law is 78 years old. We got her Internet and YouTube TV as it was cheaper than cable. She knows how to use that pretty well but is afraid to use any other streaming services. So I had a thought. Is there anyway for me to be able to send her a link to a Netflix show or Hulu or which ever one. That way she could click on the link and it would take her straight to it
