Having the same issue everyone else is having and no resolution from Roku. I get tossed from just about every ap back to the home screen. YouTube is almost a perfect every 3 minutes. I have tried every suggested method to resolve known to mankind. Unplugging everything. Updating everything. Factory resetting everything. Thoroughly disgusted with the whole thing. And before you ask me to go to the effort to list my model, serial number, etc..etc... why do it? Not once has a customer service person from Roku taken that information and done anything with it.

Same data as above, but new issue ID: GJ-088-234
Netflix boots me back to home screen after exactly 3 minutes.
Have factory reset ROKU to no avail and tried everything in this thread.

Ah, but you have never tried the permenent solution
unplug the Roku unit from the TV and take the batteries out of the remote.
exit the room and find the nearest window.
open the window and throw the devices as far as you can.get in the car and go buy a fire stick or any other device other than Roku.

3/13/24 My 2017 Insignia Roku smart TV is suddenly doing something very stupid. It is now kicking me of all .. all .. apps every 6 minutes. (Yes, I actually timed it!) Ive tried the plug-unplug bit til I'm blue in the face & my net/WiFi has "excellent/strong" connections. Apparently, my TV does not have a "check apps" selection, so I am unable to clear individual app caches. I refuse to reset the TV to factory setting! I can't afford a new TV due to the quadrupled prices in this post-2022, post-COVID-greed-era. I hope I don't have to return to watching the same da*mn 40 dvds like I did when I had no WiFi service for 4 months last year! So, any rare, but effective, diagnostic & treatment suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I really don't know what would cause this. But these things are just special purpose computers. Like their big brothers sometimes clearing things out by restarting them can correct problems.
Try restarting the set via this menu path:
Settings > System > Power > System restart
Note: On a Roku TV, if you have "Fast TV start" enabled, turning it off and back on just puts the set into and out of a standby state and does NOT give you a complete restart.

Search the web for the Roku "clear the cache" button sequence (it starts by pressing Home five times). They don't like for us to post the various "secret" button sequences here. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you're left with a factory reset or getting a separate device and connecting it to the TV. The latter may be the better option since a new device may perform better than the one embedded in your TV.

So my question is clearing the cache on a Roku TV? I don't have a Roku TV.

And you are lucky you don’t have a Roku TV because if you did, it would be kicking you back to the home page too

They have no answer. Literally, NOTHING works. It has gotten even worse since I posted the question, which I didn’t even consider possible. My TV’s wouldn’t work yesterday at all. Today, my daughter has been watching a movie and had no issues. It is far worse at night, when it’s late here on the East Coast, and evening on the West. It’s not a problem with the apps, the tv, the Wi-Fi, or anything else. It is a problem with ROKU. I have no doubt there is some team trying to fix the issue and stay quiet until they do. If they don’t, you’ll be seeing one of those commercials…”If you purchased a Roku SmartTV before June 2023”.

I've tried updating, I've checked my wifi, I've contacted netflix and other providers I have subscriptions when this occurs, and then I realized, if its more than one, then the common denominator is roku, and I don't intend to reset my smart tv.. I use three primary channels, Netflix, Viki, IQiyi.. netflix and Iqiyi are both acting like fools. Netflix i've been bounced off at least a dozen times before I went to another channel. so, would deleting the channels and readding them help?

You are correct this seems to be a problem with quite a few users across the entire Roku product line. It would be nice if Roku would at least let the community that they are looking into the issue. But I think that it may be that word will begin to circulate through social media, electronics websites, etc. I hope they get a fix or software patch out there soon.

I haven't posted for a while since trying what makaiguy posted, and a few other things.
I was afraid to jinx it or speak too soon. It's been a few weeks and... Dare I say it?
It's been better. In fact no issues since (knock on wood).
However, I think there's been only 1 update since. Keep that in mind, because they often re-trigger the problem.
After all the months of problems & no real solution from Roku, other than their typical advice which was followed more than once... I narrowed down the problem (here), was most prolific on Rokus 4k devices, verses older versions for us (we have many versions in different rooms. New & old).I verified the systems were up to date. Connections were good. Deleted & re-added apps. Ran through the refresh of system etc. The same old tropes that we've all been trying and then added the suggested tip by makaiguy
Note: I did not do a "system factory reset" during this last attempt to figure out the problem.
I did do a "restart" as instructed.
Hopefully, I linked makaiguy post correctly. If not, I'll paste his posting below.I found I did indeed have his mentioned "fast start" enabled. I didn't even know it existed.
I turned it off.
I also turned standby off. This got rid of the annoying light. This "standby" may or may not have, factored into the problem but I was happy to be rid of the light that forever was on at bottom of TV.
This last round... Crossing fingers & knocking on more wood... "seems" to have worked for me.
It's probably all going to blow up now or make me a liar in short time. Meanwhile though, it has been weeks since I've had the problem. I couldnt go hours or minutes before. Maybe that last hoorah, was the trick or maybe my devices are playing mind games, but I thought I'd post about it.
Just In case it really does help someone else, because this problem is pretty frustrating and Roku seems to not care, which is disappointing after years of being our go-to's.
Also Note, Turning those 2 items off, has had zero negative affect on how my TV turns on. I don't miss this standby or fast start option that may or may not have been been a factor to our problem. I do enjoy the "no booting" to home screen, though. Crossing fingers again for all of us. Lol
Here's what makaiguy said.
(Note the additional "standby" option is in the same menu as his mentioned "fast start". If you are interested in checking it out or in case it was part of the issue as well). Good Luck!:
====
If you have Fast Start enabled on your Roku TV, turning your set off/on just toggles you into and out of a reduced power standby state and doesn't give a complete restart. (>Settings > System > Power > Fast TV Start)
To get a complete restart use menu path >Settings > System > Power >System restart, or unplug from power for a few seconds.#RokuSupport #kickingtohomescreen #beingbootedwhilestreaming #kicking

I have also experienced this issue over and over again for no apparent reason. Everything like the above mentioned including the Roku screen mirroring app. What's wrong with the TV? Any answers at all yet? Suggestions?
- AnnoyedLadyStreaming Star
Carrimckown ... my takeaway from this thread is that it's a good thing I didn't spend hundreds on the TV.. I use the non4k streaming device which is relatively inexpensive to replace if my irritation level gets high enough...
Oh! Wanted to throw out a NEW quirk I experienced a few hours ago.. the theme pack reset itself 💃🏽💃🏽 I sleep with the pandora app playing music; I woke up bc there was silence.. I went to the living room to do the ole Restart thing and saw that instead of my chosen Jungle theme, the screen was now set to the pink Barbie theme...??!! No biggie, it's resettable, but hooo it was weird...

This is what happens to me when I start re-experiencing an uptick in the kicking to home screen. I think it's all update driven & they have a glitch that's gone unfixed. @roku@rokusupport really needs to figure iit out & not blame the user because it's apparently wide spread.
Currently, the turning off the fast start & the stand by (limbo state of TV) that I posted about, has "seemed" to help. I guess I'll find out if I get another update if I'm still OK. 🤞
- CarrimckownNewbie
I tried all of the suggestions and nothing seems to stop my TV from editing the apps after a short time. Mirroring edits literally less than five minutes of watching.

TV's are new but the software is the same old **bleep** stuff.......
- AnnoyedLadyStreaming Star
Mia08 ... hi, I'm not sure if this is what solved it for me or if it was indeed a software glitch that got fixed thru a silent automatic update.. but I disabled the bandwidth saver AND also the screensaver and stopped experiencing being booted back to the Home screen. The remote is not the reason, bc one can use the Roku app for remote control (and for voice control, don't waste money on the expensive remote) and still experience the booting. The bad part about Roku is, whether you have the TV or the streaming device, any updates they release happen invisibly in the background; they don't notify you of it, the only way you know is if you look at the About section and make note of what software version is listed, eventually you'll see a different one and go AHA, it was updated! I really really think this booting issue is the result of a buggy software update... but as I said, when I changed the bandwidth saver and screensaver start time, it worked for me. Also, if this helps any, here's Roku's customer service number: (816) 272-8106 ..they're really not much help but sometimes it at least makes you feel better to be able to complain to a company, y'know?? Good luck, hun ❤️❤️
- Mia08Reel Rookie
AnnoyedLady Clarification: the bandwidth saver is a feature in the tv settings you are referring to to disable right ? I’m going to check it out and also disable the screensaver.
will try the above and see how that goes 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
thank you for your help. I’ll let you know how things fair
