Can't get premium content on AMC+ on the Roku Channel

I just purchased a Google TV,

I have an AMC+on the roku channel subscription.

The play store or the google apps store has the roku channel app.

However  I can not seem to find any premium content on the app.  Is there any way to watch my AMC+ on the roku channel subscription on my google tv ?  Or do i need to cancel my  subscription and subscribe directly through AMC+?

  • Hi libbyphd

It seems like you're having trouble accessing AMC+ on The Roku Channel premium content. You should be able to access your subscription on this app using your Google TV.

Once you open The Roku Channel app, you'll see the Home page of the app and its categories, such as Recommendations, Save Lists, Continue Watching, and then scroll down to the bottom until you see the Premium Subscription category. There, you will see the AMC+ tile and click it to view the available content.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

You have just discovered the limitation that comes with subscribing to a premium service through a 3rd party (Roku,  Amazon, Hulu, Apple, etc.) instead of directly with the channel itself.

When you purchase a premium subscription through such a 3rd party, your premium account is with that 3rd party acting as an agent for the channel, not with the channel itself.   Although there may be a few exceptions, these typically are only chartered for viewing on the 3rd party service through which you subscribed. In Roku's case, they typically are accessed via The Roku Channel viewed on a Roku device.  Viewing The Roku Channel on a platform other than an actual Roku will not give access to such premium subscriptions.

If you want the flexibility to view on all platforms supported by that channel (i.e. on the channel's website, on various specific streaming systems and mobile devices) you typically must subscribe directly with the channel via its web page then use a web browser on the channel's website, or the dedicated app for each platform, logging in with the credentials you established with the channel account.

I did exactly what you said, the only category that you mentioned in that list Is continue watching.

Recommendations and save list do not appear nor does a premium subscription category.

I want to be sure I’m explaining my situation correctly. I bought a Google TV. I went to the play store app and downloaded the Roku channel app.  Nowhere in that app do I see the categories you mentioned, other than continue watching.

I don’t know if screenshots would help or what I can do to help you help me.  If there is anything else you can tell me, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • I was under the impression that The Roku Channel on other platforms didn't have any premium channel access.  (I don't use TRC myself, and I only subscribe to services directly, but this is what I have read.)

When I originally subscribe to AMC plus on the Roku channel, I had a Roku TV.  That TV life ended.  I still have other Roku TVs however I purchased a new Google TV and I don’t see the premium content on the app.

I think my only solution is going to be to cancel with the Roku channel and subscribe directly, but I was hoping there was a solution before I had to do that.

        Hello, libbyphd

We understand that you are unable to find an option or category for a premium subscription on the Roku channel via your Google TV. To clarify, a Premium Subscription on the Roku Channel is available in the United States, but it is not supported on third-party devices, including Google TV.

We suggest signing up for a subscription directly with the app provider support for AMC+ to access it on your Google TV.

We hope that clears things up!
