Another added Ads on home screen
Last night I started up one of my many Roku sticks and saw an "update" message flash on the screen. It seems my stick has been updated to your new OS 13 (unfortunately). Now I see an ad on the bottom left of the home screen for the slutty, morally bankrupt, self-promoting Kardashians program on Hulu. I never says ads on the bottom left before OS 13. I have youngsters that we are trying to teach good values and you put that trash ad on the Roku home screen! And with just a push of a button it plays! What is wrong with you, Roku? Have you no decency or morals? Are you so greedy with ad revenue that you will post any trash on your home screen? What's next? Soft porn, hard porn, or snuff films? If you must cram ads down our throats on the home screen then why can't you put family oriented, child safe, non trash ads on the home screen? I respect the rights of anyone who loves the Kardashians and wants to watch them. But for those of us who find them and programs like that disgusting we don't want to have them crammed down our throats on the home screen. The Roku home screen should be neutral containing only family, child safe content. Of course you give us customers no way to turn off these ads or at minimum block the currently displayed ad if a household doesn't allow that type of trash to be viewed by young children. And don't say to go settings privacy and turn on the option to let advertisers spy on you so you can select the type of ads you don't want displayed. I tried that and the trash Kardashians ad still display on the bottom left. Roku - get some common decency and stop pushing trash on your home screen or give us to the option to block it. If and when we want to watch such trash we can start up an app and select it from the app itself. I'm assuming this post will deleted quickly by Roku but at least I've tried.2.9KViews7likes7Comments[OS 13] Automatic exit Guest Mode, bad firmware update.
We have three Rokus in our Airbnb. All three have had their Guest Modes stop working. Now when the device is turned on, the Welcome screen is no longer displayed. Instead, the TV opens to a guest mode "menu" with pretty much nothing in it. (https://ibb.co/9gN3W0X) When you select the "Guest Options" menu item, you see that "You'll be automatically signed out: Dec 31 at 7:00 pm". (https://ibb.co/NjjDKZj) That's obviously not right, so I selected "Sign out and clear info" but then receive a message saying "Oops... There was a problem connecting to the server. Please try again later." (https://ibb.co/9gM4CWF) I have toggled Guest Mode on and off and restarted the Rokus but the problem persists. I've also factory reset all three devices. The problem subsided for a day or so and is now back again. I'm guessing the devices received a firmware update towards the end of August that killed Guest Mode since they all started the same behavior around that timeframe. Is anyone else seeing these problems?Solved5.5KViews4likes57CommentsWashed out color all of a sudden on TCL Roku
Just started today 7/16/25 where color was suddenly washed out. Its almost like Im trying to watch a 3D show w/o glasses, the color is distorted that way. My Roku ultra keeps crashing and restarting after last Saturdays update. Anyone knows how to fix it? I’ve tried: - turn power on off - factory reset - turn off power saving - reconnect to wifi nothing fixes this. If it keeps happening, I might just return it and use something else. So frustrating.Solved22KViews3likes22CommentsRoku device factory reset itself after an update
Twice now in the last two weeks after what I assume were device updates, I've woken up to find that my streaming stick has been reset. It needs to re-recognize the TV, then I have to sign in to my account again, then I need to re-sign into any of the pay services I use (Netflix, Amazon, etc.). Additionally, it blows away all my favorites, which is great. I've had the stick for a few months now - is this the future I have to look forward to? If so, someone please let me know now. Thanks.942Views3likes27CommentsRoku 2 stuck in dancing logo
Roku 2 stuck on dancing ROKU logo with flashing white light. Can't access anything forward of this. Removed power several times and for overnight, reset router checked hdmi cable, etc. Nothing works. Can this be a complete failure of unit due to age, or can a recent update have corrupted the system?160Views2likes10CommentsRoku Streaming Stick flashing light
A couple of months ago I bought a Roku HD streaming stick for use in the UK (it's one of the new ones with voice control...) I've had a couple of small issues with it and filled in some of Roku's online support forms but nobody at Roku ever gets back to me. One issue is that the stick itself (i.e. the bit that goes into my TV) occasionally displays a very bright white light for some reason. I found this forum and read a few issues and the consensus seemed to be that a bright white light indicates that the stick has lost contact (presumably with my Wifi router?) So as an experiment I tried deliberately powering down the router - but that didn't bring the white light on :-( Others here suggested that a very bright light indicates that the firmware is being updated. Anyway, I'm kinda curious... anyone know if the white light is something to worry about?Solved247Views2likes9CommentsCan't update software, and the Roku mobile app won't work
So, my Roku remote’s been dead for a few months, and I’ve been using the Roku app and/or the power button on the TV whenever I use it. It was perfectly fine until I went to use the TV and was met with the finalization of an update. Pretty normal. I let it run for a minute but it then says it couldn’t connect to my network and gave me 3 options. Go to my networks settings, restart the TV, or factory reset. I went to the app to fix the wifi, but the app won’t connect to my TV. No problem let me use the button, except the TV is unresponsive with the button, so now I’m stuck unable to use my TV unless I go out and buy batteries, which isn’t a hard task, but it’s annoying that it’s forcing me to do so instead of just letting me use the app or button. Either disable auto updates or just let me use the app or the button to navigate it.Solved104Views2likes3CommentsOS 14.1 Update for Roku TV - Recovery Mode Issue
Hey everyone, We are aware of an issue where some Roku devices are getting stuck in recovery mode. We believe the OS 14.1 update has addressed this issue, but it seems that some TVs aren't updating automatically. If your TV hasn't updated yet, please send me a private message (PM) with your Device ID, and we can assist in pushing the update through. For more information, please refer to this Community thread. My roku went through an automatic software upgrade last night. Turned on TV this morning and the spaceship screen keeps spinning without progression to the apps. This happened before with another roku stick- which I replaced with this one. Are these just pieces of junk?73Views1like1Comment
