advertisement for Roku WiFi service
I saw an ad on TV saying Roku has a Wi-Fi service for something like $9.95 a month. Is this true?

Re: advertisement for Roku WiFi service
Just a little clarification on terminology.
Wifi is a local connection. (ie. your home network). Wifi is a "wireless" connection to your network/router. There is no costs associated with wifi and connecting devices to your network. (other than the purchase of a physical router or network equipment).
An ISP (internet service provider) is how you connect to the internet. This is where a cost is incurred. Your ISP may have provided you a modem or combination modem/router (the modem actually connects you to the internet) and then charges you a monthly fee for internet access and/or equipment rental.
Roku is not an ISP, so I think you may have just misinterpreted/confused the ad you were watching.

Can you provide any details as to this ad so can possibly see where the confusion may have come from?

Re: advertisement for Roku WiFi service
Thank you. I think I misunderstood they were talking about a streaming device not internet.

Re: advertisement for Roku WiFi service
If you are not familiar with Roku, start over on their homepage https://www.roku.com/ or feel free to ask here in the forums.
Roku basically sells streaming devices. (one-time purchases). There is no monthly charge or anything to use Roku and view a bunch of free streaming channels/apps available to install on your Roku device.

Roku does additionally offer subscriptions to different premium channels/apps/services that do have a monthly charge. (could be one of the ads you saw - an offer for a subscription to a channel/app/service).
There are so many scams that pop up the internet that it sometimes raises eyebrows/concerns here when a user asks about paying a monthly service to Roku that we try to determine if the user is asking about a legitimate add-on subscription or may be falling for a scam.
