Hello, I have tried for hours to connect my roku to my dorm.
It has previously worked and connected no problem. I have tried network reset also and still no luck.
When it prompts me to connect to roku and then use the password provided, it always says "incorrect password"
I have a roku streaming stick 4k.
Let's back up a second. When you connect a phone or laptop to this net you do it by accepting terms on a web page, right? If so ..
This establishes your connection for that device. That's okay for a computer or phone that has a web browser, but your Roku does not have one.
In order to log the Roku into the net's web page, you log in via your computer/phone/tablet as usual but you run it through the Roku instead of directly.
You do this by connecting your computer or mobile device to the Roku via a wifi-direct connection. When you then log into the system's web page on your phone's/computer's browser while connecting through the Roku it establishes the Roku's connection.

One caveat: the Roku must already have been set up and linked to your Roku account. It's easiest to do this at home before you leave. Otherwise you can do the initial setup over a conventional WiFi connection, like a WiFi hotspot on your phone, before connecting through the Hotel/Dorm setup process.
Now I attempted to factory reset. After doing this. My remote will only turn the tv on and off and control the volume, I can't move or select any of the options on screen.
I'm about to throw this garbage device in the trash. What a waste of money and time this thing is.
When trying to use the hotel/dorm feature, never Factory Reset the device unless you have an alternative network to connect to first. (If you have a mobile hotspot available to you, try using that to connect your Roku device to in order to complete setup/activation).
Once setup and activated, then try to connect to the hotel/dorm connection again.
After resetting, the controller won't sync properly to even get past the "let's get started screen" where i chose a language. The arrows and wnter button won't work.
But the power and volume buttons are still working. But that's not helpful as I can't get past the initial screen.
I've tried removing batteries for a minute. I tried to reset remote by holding the back button and home button for 30 seconds.
Nothing works and I'm stuck at the let's get started screen.
Ok, I got the remote working after a hard reset again by holding home and back for 30 seconds.
Now my roku has a new name and different password when trying to connect to dorm. But it still is saying incorrect password and won't connect to the internet 😞
Are you sure you are using the correct/recent password to autheticate? The authentication expires after a few minutes.

Are you using your phone or laptop to authenticate?
Using my phone to try to connect. Yes I'm using the right password.
Rather than using the Roku password, do you have another password for the dorm network. (ie. the one you would use if connecting a phone or laptop to the wifi).
No password needed for this dorm unfortunately. Just have to accept their terms and it connects.
The weird thing is it has worked in the past. But now it just won't accept the password given.
