I wish it was that simple. Please read my posts again: I CAN'T GET TO THE HOME BUTTON. Or any other menu.

I'll try the hotspot idea and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the idea.
 
It shouldn't be this hard to update a modem-router and have Roku completely fail.  I'll just switch to Apple TV and top wasting time with Roku.
 
The "support" here seems to be limited to people parroting suggestions from a script that is supplied by the Roku Marketing department. Not helpful.

What is the model number of the router and who is ISP (internet service provider) that we are dealing with here?

The router is a Netgear Nighthawk C7000v2 and the ISP is Xfinity (Comcast).

Sorry, was waiting on the update from you regarding performing another Factory Reset and trying to setup with the mobile hotspot.

Since you have the C7000 (and the firmware is optimized for cable ISP), have you already configured the wireless mode to b/g/n  on the 2.4ghz band as recommended by @makaiguy and others?  This router also supports DFS channels (52-140) on the 5ghz band, (which Roku cannot see or use),  so am thinking that you may have this configured to use DFS which may be why the Roku is not seeing a 5ghz band option to connect to.  Roku will need to use a non-DFS channel (36-48, or 149-161) in order to connect on the 5ghz band.

Can you verify that you have tried all the below?

1. Set the 2.4ghz band to use wireless mode or protocol b/g/n, and using a channel width, or bandwidth of 20mhz.  (these will be located under 2.4ghz wireless settings in router).

2. Set the 5ghz band to use a non-DFS channel 36-48, or 149-161.  Either manually set to use one of these channels, or disable the use of the DFS under Advanced Settings if using "Auto" for channel selection.

3. Factory reset the Roku device (press and hold reset button for 30+ seconds) and try to connect to the mobile hotspot to setup the Roku device.  Then after you have made the changes mentioned in steps 1 and 2 above, try to connect to your home network.
