Tried both of those steps.
My router is downstairs and the 2 Roku stick TVs that keep freezing are upstairs. It seems to work fine if only 1 of the 2 are on, but if both TVs are on that’s when the freezing and no internet connection message pops up. Does this mean my internet is not strong enough on the second level for 2 streaming? I currently have a 400 mbps plan.
Hi @MacyZ,
Thank you for the update!
We'd love to assist you further, but we'll need to gather information. Could you tell us how far your Roku device is from your router?
We'll wait for your response.
Thanks, John
Probably about 40-50 feet
Hi @MacyZ,
Thank you for the additional information!
Signal strength can vary due to factors such as the amount of wireless traffic and the usage of other devices on your network. If the results from a connection check display poor or fair signal strength, or you experience connection or playback issues regardless of the results, try the suggestions below to help improve your wireless connection.
Eliminate wireless interference: Cordless phones, microwave ovens, or other wireless devices near your router can cause wireless interference that may affect the quality of your network connection. Move any such device away from your wireless router.
Check with your ISP: Visit the website of your internet service provider, or ISP (usually your cable or phone company), or contact them directly to inquire about any outages or connectivity-related issues. You should also confirm that your internet package provides speeds fast enough for streaming.
Reduce network usage by other devices: Devices currently accessing the network, such as other streaming players, computers, game consoles, and mobile devices, may affect the quality of your network connection. Temporarily stop using any such device and check if that makes a difference. You may need to reduce the usage of other network devices when using your Roku device.
We hope this helps, and please keep us posted if you need anything else.
Kind regards, John
I am having the same exact issue Macy is having. My internet is not to blame- all other devices connected to WiFi work fine. Any solutions? This is maddening. A brand new Roku.
Hi @JkKelleher,
A warm welcome here in the Roku Community!
We appreciate your report on this issue and we're sorry for the trouble this has caused you.
We'd like to know more about this setup to see how we can get you up and running. Could you share how are you powering this device? Is this connected directly to the TV USB port or to a wall outlet? We would recommend powering your device to a source that has enough power to work efficiently. We'd also like to know how this behavior exactly occurs and if you are seeing an error message.
Please tell us more about this so that we can further zoom in on it.
Regards,
Rey
I have tried plugged into the tv and into the wall. Both have identical issues. It doesn’t matter what app I use. I watch a show for about 15 minutes and get a notification that states
“No connection
Connect to the Internet now, or set it up later at: Settings> Network>Check connection.” There are two buttons “Exit to check connection” and “Set it up later”
The problem is- the Roku is completely frozen- the remote doesn’t work. The only way to use the Roku is to unplug from the power source and plug it back in.
I have read another user state to erase cache, and another said to factory reset. I have tried both. Still having issues. Seems to be widespread with the 4k streaming stick- and no real solution from Roku.
I made the dumb mistake of recycling the packaging assuming the Roku would function as it should. Now, I am out $40 as I cannot return to Amazon to get a different version of Roku (that hopefully works).
Here’s to hoping you can help…
I forgot to mention. My Roku is about 8 feet from the router. The closest device to the router, and we are having issues. My firestick works approximately 30 feet away, through several walls.

Multiple people on this message board have mentioned the same exact issue. Basic troubleshooting advice is given, and none fix the problem.
It’s not an internet problem, it’s a problem with the 4k streaming stick. Roku fails to admit there is an issue and roll out a software fix.
I spent the extra money on a 4k Apple TV, and have had zero “internet” issues. Buyer beware on the 4k Roku streaming stick.
