Help! A neighbour is watching my streaming services through my Roku!

Hello,

I have a Roku Express in my living room, but I've noticed that shows are being watched on the streaming services that I haven't watched.

I believe that someone is watching them through the Roku as the accounts for my streaming services aren't showing that any other devices are connected.

We've also changed network providers since this started so it is unlikely that someone has access to our network.

How is this possible and how do I stop it?

Thank you so much for your help!

When you are done viewing on Roku, do you return your Roku to its home page to stop whatever channel you were viewing before turning your TV off or changing it to a different input?

If you leave the channel app streaming, some will continue going on through additional episodes, or even on to different programs altogether on that channel.  As far as the channel is concerned, you have viewed these programs.

Hi,

They are programs I (and everyone I live with) haven't watched any episodes of.

I first noticed it with Channel 4 and now Amazon Prime Video.

Do you have any suggestions? 🙂

Re: Help! A neighbour is watching my streaming services through my Roku!

Since the video comes out via your HDMI port, I don’t know how they could actually be watching.  If they somehow have a remote paired with your Roku then they could be (blindly) driving your Roku.  If you leave your TV on, then you should be able to see/hear that happening.  (ie leave it on home screen with the audio turned up, so you’ll notice it even if you're sleeping.)

Banned but back. Because why not?
