I have 4 Roku devices that will not connect to a 'CoxWiFi' hotspot near my house. I was able to make the connection with a FireStick so what could Roku be possibly doing to for preventing to connect to an open WiFi network? I am getting the generic 'Unable to connect to wireless network' error with code 014.50.
I've tried every troubleshooting step I can think of so far and looked up which included resetting the network connections on the TV, doing a factory reset of the TV, powering down, unplugging the TV, forgetting the network and reconnecting to it as new. I also tried Cox support and they were absolutely worthless in trying to troubleshoot.
Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution?
Just wondering if there's any special characters ($, %, &, *, etc.) in the Wi-Fi password. The 014.50 error is often caused by them.
The wifi is an open hotspot provided by the ISP so there is no password.
Are you doing this type of connection?

Yes, that is what happens when it used to connect but I can't get it to connect at all to get the pop up window to select the dorm or hotel option. I would also have to connect to a wireless network from the tv to go the authenticating when I get the pop up to log into my ISP account to confirm I'm an active member.
