Youtube app returns to profile screen after Roku screensaver is running
Hi,
I'm having this issue where the Youtube app on my Roku returns to the profile screen every time my Roku screensaver is running. So, say I'm watching a video and have to pause it long enough that the Roku screensaver runs. Then, when I come back I click an arrow on my remote (not clicking OK, so I'm not going into the ad on the screensaver) and instead of going back to the paused video, Youtube kicks me back to their profile screen.
Also, if I'm just on a Youtuber's page and the screensaver starts, then when I come back I get kicked over to the top of the Youtuber's page. This is super annoying if I'm like 50+ videos into one of their Youtuber's pages and have to scroll for forever to get back to where I was in their string of videos.
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Youtube app returns to profile screen after Roku screensaver is running
I am also having this issue. If I have the youtube app open, no matter what I’m doing (watching a video; just on the home screen, scrolling through a channel), if the screensaver comes on, even for a second, when I click back to close the screensaver, it shows where I was for a split second before kicking me back to profile select.
This used to happen on a fire stick if there was more than one profile- but on both my Roku 4k TV and my Roku 4k Streaming Stick, even with only one profile it’ll kick me out to the profile select.
Just for troubleshooting info- I have been having another problem with my TV, so I know that restarting the TV and factory reset doesn’t fix it (i.e. removing the app and redownloading it doesn’t fix it).
Seems to be an app issue.

Re: Youtube app returns to profile screen after Roku screensaver is running
Thanks for keeping us posted, @delelise!
The Roku "Bandwidth saver" function kicks in when the Roku has received no user input in four hours. It asks if you are still watching, and if it receives no response, it exits the current stream and returns the Roku to its home page. At that point, if you have the Roku screensaver enabled it will kick in after the designated delay.
You can turn this feature on and off via Settings > Network > Bandwidth saver> Off
- Note: Some streaming channels employ a mechanism to cease data usage after a specific period of inactivity. Disabling Bandwidth Saver will not affect these features.
Hope you'll find this info useful.

Re: Youtube app returns to profile screen after Roku screensaver is running
Hi John,
I tried turning off the bandwidth saver setting but it did not make any difference. I don’t think it’s an app feature either.
Like I said, at one point I had a fire stick and it eventually started having this same problem but only if you had more than one profile, and I’ve never had this problem on my samsung TV youtube app.
It has always happened on my roku devices though. I think it may be a bug with the app though, not necessarily the roku. Because the way it happens does look glitchy- when clicking out of the screensaver the screen that had been up when the screensaver turns on is there for a second, so it still has the data of where I was, but then abruptly kicks me back to the profile select.

Mine also looks glitchy. The same thing happens - I get a brief view of whatever I was watching, and then it goes back to a youtuber's home or my profile select.

Re: Youtube app returns to profile screen after Roku screensaver is running
I had to uninstall and then reinstall the Youtube app. It seems to be working okay now. Before, I tried restarting the Roku, and I tested other apps to see if it did the same thing in those apps as well, but it didn't. Seems to be working after the uninstall/reinstall.
