I have been using my 3920x for months, and the sound has been great. Suddenly, roughly two weeks ago, the only audio it will output is stereo. I no longer get five-channel sound from any app. The sound has been fine for months. I don't know what happened.
My Roku box connects directly to my receiver via HDMI. I can see on the receiver that it is only receiving a stereo signal from the Roku.
• I can't think of anything that I have changed on my end.
• It does not appear to be related to the 12.5 update. I'm virtually positive that the problem started before the update was installed on 10/18, but I could be wrong.
• I have other devices that connect to the same receiver and are having no problems.
• I can unplug the HDMI cable from a working component and plug it into the Roku (so that the Roku is now using its HDMI cable and receiver input), but the receiver still only detects a stereo signal.
• I have searched extensively and found a few solutions, but none of them fixed my issue. I have made sure that the Volume leveling setting is set to Off.
• I have spent over an hour changing every setting I can find in the Audio menus of the Roku box, but nothing makes a difference. Everything was set to Auto as it should have been, but I tried every individual setting just to see if anything made a difference.
• I unplugged the Roku and left it unplugged all night. When I plugged it back in today, the problem remained.
Have you tried changing the auto setting for surround type to pass through instead? When selected, whatever surround format the original content is passed through to the AVR. And are your HDMI cables up to date? Beyond this not sure what else to say though I own the Roku Ultra 4800R but have to think the settings are the same
@SLFShane, I don't know if the 3920 supports any of the "Volume modes", but if it does, make sure none are enabled. While watching a video, press * on your remote and set the "Volume mode" to "Off".
Thanks for the ideas! I have changed all the audio settings, but nothing worked. And I swapped to an HDMI cable and input that I know worked, but that didn't fix it either.
Yep. Did that. Even set it to something else and rebooted and then set it back to Off. Didn't change anything 😞 That was the first solution I found, and I was really hopeful. That doesn't seem to be the cause here though.
