Streaming Stick 4K Reboots often and is slow

Jump to solution

I recently "upgraded" to the Streaming Stick 4K for variable speed YouTube videos and faster performance. Well, I'm halfway there.

While I do have variable speed YouTube, the new device is notibly slower than my 5-year old Roku. It often, 25% of the time, restarts when I turn on the TV. And it simply takes longer to get to the initial screen and even navigation seems slow.

The device remains powered from the wall and is within five feet of the router.

Has anyone else shared my experience. Any tips or suggestions?

Hi, @weggaa

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We appreciate you for sharing with us your concern regarding your Roku Streaming Stick 4K, and we're here to assist. Let's take time to perform a troubleshooting step to resolve the issue. We recommend performing a system restart. To do this, kindly follow the instructions below:

System Restart

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll and select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
  5. Select System restart.

After following this step, your Roku device will reboot, and you can navigate after the restart.

We hope this works, and let us know if you need further assistance.

Best wishes,
Kash
