Skipping and Freezing issues.

I had issues with it skipping and freezing.  I went to system on Roku main menu. Downloaded updates. Then restarted Roku (from system bar options)

Re: Skipping, cc not synced on Roku channel program

Hi @Lizwatch,

Greetings and welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate the information you provided. Let us help you with this, and we'll need more information for us to figure this out. What channel is affected by the issue? Is this also happening to other channels? In addition, when did you first notice this issue occur?

Your response would be much appreciated.

All the best,
Kash

Re: Skipping and Freezing issues.

I hope it's OK to chime in here, I'm looking for similar help.  On my Roku Ultra, using Hulu, when watching a channel in My Stuff, I can't just fast forward through commercials on a program that has already started recording.  It tops me, says it will continue from this spot, but then doesn't.  So, I can't catch myself up.  It's better if I let it finish recording, then start to watch the program.  Annoying.  I don't think it's a Hulu problem because rebooting the Roku player helps, usually.  This only started happening a few months ago, but it's so annoying that I can't speak to someone live to help me troubleshoot this issue, I'm wondering why I should continue using this player, or even buying another.  Can anyone help me figure this out?

Re: Skipping and Freezing issues.

Hi @MichaelCassidy8,

Greetings and welcome to the Roku Community!

We appreciate you for sharing this information with us, and we would be more than glad to take a closer look at this and provide you with assistance. Is this issue isolated to the Hulu channel, or are other channels affected by the issue? In addition, what recording application are you referring to with your post?

We would sincerely appreciate your response.

All the best,
Kash

Re: Skipping and Freezing issues.

Hello, and thank you for your response.  I use Hulu more than others, and I don't recall if I've seen this happen elsewhere.  Let's say I have a setting to record the evening news at 6:30pm every day on ABC.  I'm home early, so I watch the local news on ABC, and rather than switch to My Stuff to watch the program as it is recording, I continue to watch it on Live TV.  If I pause the live program for 3 minutes, and I sit back down to continue to play it live, not only can I not fast forward through those 3 minutes to watch live again... but if I switch to My Stuff to watch the news there, it will show me only what has not been seen yet on the Live side.  I cannot rewind, I cannot fast forward, I am seeing something like .. you'll have to come back to this spot to continue watching.  Perhaps it is a Hulu thing, but I can't understand the rule that makes this happen.  It would be very helpful If I could get a wording of the policy it's enforcing.  Sometimes I have to reboot the Roku in order to make it work normally again, I just don't want to spend some time every evening cursing this setup and how it is not working.  Also, the video and audio are often out of sync on shows that have been recorded, or are recording... too many issue for me to have to think about.

Re: Skipping and Freezing issues.

Hi @MichaelCassidy8,

Thanks for keeping us updated here in the Roku Community!

We're glad to assist you with your problem with the Hulu app and video and audio being out of sync. Please follow these steps:

  1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press the Star button to open the options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
  2. Restart your Roku device. Restart the device from the settings menu. Go to Settings > System > System Restart. (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.)
  3. Re-install the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Channel Store or Search and add the channel again.

Let us know if this works for you!
Best regards,
Eunice
