Hi community,
In advance: it worked for years and nothing changed on my side.
Setup: Roku Ultra, Plex newest Version, QNAP NAS
Plex on Roku can "Direct Play" every movie.
But - when I activate srt or ass subtitles in a movie, Plex will transcode. This is new, this never happened in the past and this worked for years. Srt subs never led to transcoding.
Whys that and what changed?
also - this does NOT happen on a Amazon FireTV stick > there direct play with srt works perfect.
Thank guys

Hi @Cabowski
Thanks for your first post in the Roku Community!
If the issue only occurs in the Plex channel, it's possible that there may be an issue with that channel on that specific device platform.
You should contact the channel provider's support directly to inquire further about the channel's features and functionality.
Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel providers themselves.
Best regards,
Chel

Re: SRT/ASS subtitles on Plex leads to transcoding
There are Plex users here that may be able to help, but you might get better/quicker help from the Plex forums: https://forums.plex.tv/
Help others find this answer and click "Accept as Solution."
If you appreciate my answer, maybe give me a Kudo.
I am not a Roku employee.
