Let me delete my own apps Roku!

Jump to solution

WHY on earth does Roku take it upon themselves to HIDE the “remove app” option if I have an active subscription? I am perfectly aware I have a subscription, I really don’t need you to protect me from deleting my own apps. The Peacock app has suddenly stopped working on my roku, and according to posts here the only solution will be to delete and reinstall the app. Funny enough I was smart enough to try this on my own but I CAN’T DO THAT without cancelling my **bleep** subscription first because Roku somehow thinks they’re doing me a favor by restricting me from basic **bleep** software features like deleting an app. It’s ridiculous. Who do you think you are protecting? How hard do you think it is to just reinstall an app if you accidentally delete it?

@sbeagle-

I sympathize completely. But there is, at least, a work around.

Try removing the channel via the official Roku remote app on an Android/iOS phone/tablet connected to one of the Rokus on your account. At the bottom of the app's home screen, click Search and do a search for the installed channel name. On the resulting screen you should get options to Launch the channel on your Roku, or Remove the channel. I've never tried to remove a subscribed-thru-Roku channel (I haven't had one for years, and this may give you an idea of one reason why) but others have reported this works with active subscriptions through Roku.
