Hello, I have a Roku Express and Im wondering if it will work on a Samsung DLP Projector TV that runs 720p and 1080i? The model number is HLS5686WX/XA. I know that some Older HD TV'S have issues displaying Rokus from what I have seen in chat rooms on the Internet.
Roku doesn’t support 1080i. It should work in 720p, though that make take a manual setting because sometimes 1080i (not p) TVs confuse Roku.
So the best thing to do is just run it at 720p. Im sure it will still look like hd I hope. Never ran at 720p before.
I don’t know the specs of that unit but when looking at the specs of many older 1080i/720p TVs, they often only really claimed about 720p worth of pixels.
For more definitive answers, please supply the Samsung model number so somebody can look up its specs.
It's in my original post.
What I searched up says: “Texas Instruments SmoothPicture™ DLP chip (1280 x 720 pixels)” So like many of TVs that era, it is a 720 display. (1080p AKA Full HD is 1980 x 1080 pixels.)
