I hope this helps someone. My Roku stick started overheating. After much trial & error, I think I may have figured the culprit: You see, this problem seemed to affect only streaming on the Apple TV app, very consistently. The app has a setting feature, allowing on & off settings to stream on SD only. Streaming an Apple TV feature, it overheated, so I stopped streaming, checked the SD-only setting & it was off. I set it to on, resumed streaming - no issues. To replicate, I stopped streaming, went back & set the SD-only to off, & it overheated again. Back & forth, & it seemed to repeat the overheating every time when SD-only was set to off. So, now I think, the issue is that the Roku stick maxes out on streaming at high resolution. For the high-tech folks, my stick is a 3810RW Stick+, so if I’m on the right track, but my stick is half-cooked, please let me know, so that I can consider my options!
