Hide Credit Card Info in Settings

I recently installed Roku streaming players on the televisions in my vacation rental.  When going to Settings > Payment Method, guests can see the last four digits of my credit card.  I was unable to find a way to hide my credit card info from guests on the television set, so I removed my credit card from my Roku account.  This choice makes it impossible for me to add services through Roku.

Is there a way to hide my credit card info on the tv itself so its not visible to guests?

Hiding the email address I use for my Roku log-in would be equally as excellent.  That is visible under... not at the vacation rental now, but I think its Settings > Account > About.

I don't intend on using Roku's guest mode.  I'm already scrambling to ensure the cottage is spotlessly clean. Guest mode would be too much work between guests, particularly if there are other issues I need to deal with.

Re: Hide Credit Card Info in Settings

Hi @FourSets,

Thank you for your first post here in the Roku Community!

We acknowledge your inquiry about hiding your credit card information when it was in guest mode. We're happy to help.

When you enable "Guest Mode" on a Roku device, your card information is automatically hidden. This means guests cannot access your payment details and cannot make purchases using your account; this is a key feature of Guest Mode to protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized spending.

If there's anything else that we can do to assist you, please keep us posted.

Best regards,
John

Re: Hide Credit Card Info in Settings

@FourSets Since you don't want to use Guest Mode (although I suggest you reconsider that) I suggest creating a new Roku user account for your rental units. All you need is a different email address, then perform a factory reset and set them up as new devices again. I know, it's a bit of work. But with this user account you can remove any CC info and not need to worry about even the last 4 being visible. I would also create a PIN so your guests cannot install new apps, unless you're not concerned about that. Just remember that installing an app on one will add the same app to all Roku devices linked to the same account.

Then you can restore your CC in your personal account without concern it could be viewed from the guest units.

Re: Hide Credit Card Info in Settings

My apologies for the late thank you, Dan.  My place was booked so, to be honest, I stepped away from the whole Roku issue 🙂  Thanks for the advice.  I did set up a pin to prevent changes/added apps.  I will give what you said a try, though I'm a little unsure how to pay for apps with the second account if there's no credit card associated with it.

It would be helpful if Roku created some online settings to allow users to hide personal data on the sets themselves like credit card numbers and email addresses given that some Roku users are businesses.

Re: Hide Credit Card Info in Settings

If you need to add something on the second account that requires a CC, just add it, make the payment, and remove the card immediately. Better yet, if it’s something you can subscribe to outside the Roku environment, that’s the better way to handle it.
