I meant to restart my Roku Streaming Stick (3600 series) (I think that's my stick) and I guess I held the button down too long and it did a full reset. So I started going back through the setup. I get connected to wifi no problem, all green checks and I can see the device connected on the router device screen. Then it gets an error message during the software update - Error 003, and I can't finish setup! It just stops there with the error and there's nothing I can do. I searched articles that sounded close, so I reset the router and tried a few different network connections. They always connect and then error on the software update.
I haven't found a clear answer in any of the articles. Can anyone tell me how to get past the update?
Hello @Gracie1,
Thanks for reaching out to the Roku Community.
We're sorry that you are unable to complete setting up your Roku Streaming Stick. Have you also tried to restart your Roku device by unplugging it from the power source along with the router? Could you tell us how you are powering your Roku device? Is it connected to the TV's USB port or to a wall outlet? We recommend plugging the device into a wall outlet and seeing if it helps.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hello Nimfa,
My Roku is plugged into a power outlet. I've used it for several years without incident. So I'm sure the software is up to date because it is always plugged in. So I'm not sure why it's hanging up there. I did reset every piece of the puzzle several times in my trials. I just don't know what else to do. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks for following up.
Can you please provide the serial number of your Roku device? Each Roku player and Roku audio device has its serial number or device ID printed on the bottom or back of the product.
Once we have this info, I'll be able to pass it along to our Support team who can assist you further.
Regards,
Nimfa
The serial number is difficult to see, but I think I have it:

Thank you!
When the setup fails to complete after the software update runs, here are a couple of things that some people have found to work for them. They may not be universally successful, but they are at least worth a try.
Easiest to try, so try this first: Restart your router, even if other devices have no trouble connecting. When your router has completed its startup, try repeating your Roku setup.
More involved: Repeat the setup by connecting to a different wifi network - perhaps via a wifi hotspot on your mobile phone or by taking it to a friend's house - and see if it will complete the startup. If successful, then redo the wifi connection to use your intended wifi network via Settings > Network > Set up connection.
I didn't mean to factory reset my roku and now when i try to reset up my roku it wants me to connet to wifi to finnish set up and I can't it won't connet to my wifi or nothing I'm stuck on wifi page. I've tried unplugging it restarting it everything. I just don't know what else to do.
Hello @Kellyswag1979
Thanks for the post regarding the issue setting up your Roku device.
Have you tried connecting your Roku device to an alternate wireless network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if you are able to finish the setup process?
Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be more than happy to continue assisting you.
Thanks,
Danny
