Do the remotes for a TCL 32s3750 Roku TV and a Roku Ultra 4802 use different codes? My Roku TV no longer reliably maintains a wi-fi connection to the router on the self above it and does not have an ethernet port. I want to know if I could use a Roku Ultra to provide a wired connection.
No problem. The Ultra uses a WiFi Direct remote which is paired specifically to the Ultra. The TV probably came with an IR remote, and even though you can use an IR remote with the Ultra the TV uses different IR codes than the Ultra.
I used an older Ultra 4640 with a Sharp Roku TV. My only problem was grabbing the wrong remote and trying to control one device with the other remote. 🙂

I'm currently trying to connect my Roku Ultra to an older Sharp Roku tv, but the Ultra keeps shutting down and not responding. Any ideas? Sorry, I cant find any other info, and Roku tells me "its not recommended"
Did you have any trouble connecting your Roku Ultra to your Roku tv? I am trying to set up and Ultra with my Sharp Roku tv, but it keeps shutting down. Did you notice any of these problems?
Back in 2016 I was on a long term work detail so was living in a hotel in VA. I didn't care for the hotel TV, so I went to BestBuy and purchased a Sharp 4K Roku TV. I was already using a Roku Ultra 4640, and when I set up the Sharp I connected the Ultra to it. The only problem I had was remembering which remote to use for which device, as the TV remote would not control the Ultra and vice versa. There is no problem connecting a Roku player to a Roku TV. The TV merely sees it as a connected HDMI device, same as a Blu Ray player or any other device with an HDMI output.
I can't say why your device is shutting down (which is it, the TV or the Ultra?), but excessive heat is always a possibility.
I have had no problems having a new Roku Ultra connected to an older TCL Roku TV. I just have to remember to use the correct remote with each one.
Thanks for the reply. The Ultra is going dark and doesnt respond. I cant tell if its taking over for the roku tv or just having some sort of software conflict, which the roku AI seems to say is the problem. I'll test it on another tv. Thanks!
