Mobile remote from another apartment

Hello, so I see this is an ongoing issue and I don't understand why it hasn't been fixed so I'll ask again.

I love in an apartment complex on the same Wi-Fi router as other people who have Roku TVs. They are able to access my Roku TV from their phones and interrupt our viewing. Not only is this an inconvenience, but it also causes an issue when my baby is sleeping.

I've turned off the 3rd party access option, I tried going to my account to disable any devices but there's nothing there, I've even named my device to show it's mine, they keep doing it.

Why is there not an option to fix this????

Re: Mobile remote from another apartment

You need to talk to your apartment management.  They should have their WiFi router set up so that the various connections to the apartment shared WiFi cannot interact with each other.

Note that this does have a down side for you if you have various devices connected to the same WiFi, as they may not be able to interact with each other.  The Roku remote app on your phone, for instance, may not be able to "see" your Roku.

Re: Mobile remote from another apartment

That's weird. Does that mean that everyone can print to other people's printers, see all their shares, servers etc.? Usually public Wi-Fi is not set up that way. Perhaps they mean to encourage you to get your own internet set up?

If they don't want to fix it, and you don't want to get your own internet, consider setting up a router as a repeater. You can have one connection from your Router to their Wi-Fi, but have you own SSID and password and put your devices on their own Wi-Fi LAN.

Banned but back. Because why not?
