Hi there,
We're new to Roku. It's kinda urgent. We're trying to rent/sell a video on Roku in Channel. What is the best solution to do this without a lot of programming? We have an account on Vimeo. What would you recommend to do that?
Thank you
We're happy to hear about recommendation on which platform is best to host the movies. If there's a way to plug & play the process, that works too!
Hi @AaronMSpelling, thank you for response!
Yes, that's something that we have been wondering if there's a way or services that offer this part of the process?
If this is the case, would you recommend anyone?
We'd like to launch this as soon as possible and not deal with a lot of coding.
Thank you again!
@AaronMSpelling I guess anything that we can sell and rent our full movies.
Cheap. Fast. Good.
Pick two!
Truth is you're looking at A LOT in coding and development costs, unless you're pretty built in and niche following It'll take a while and many, many rentals to recoup the costs. I'd ballpark it all at $5k-$10k.
Vimeo OTT will build your SDK package once you set everything up.
Another option in the same vein is Zype
Both are content record management solutions and cost about $1-$2k / mo for streaming channel deployments.
Fastest and cheapest way to deploy a Roku Channel is using Vimeo Pro and a json feed file, and then giving the unique code of the channel as part of the receipt of payment. That doesn't scale, but it gets you started for about $200/yr.
Serve your videos from Vimeo Pro as HLS links, and serve the thumbnails and feed file from any website.
The only solution for TVOD is custom Roku app.
Roku Direct Publisher is AVOD only (free to consumers), no SVOD or TVOD.
