I have an older Roku TV (comes with the remote without the pairing button), the batteries died on my remote and once i changed them my remote no longer pairs to my tv. i’ve tried different batteries but that’s not the problem. I would use the roku app but i changed my wifi (tv and phone have to be connected to same wifi) so i can’t use that either. any suggestions? #remote
Simple remotes don't pair; they either work or they don't. If your remote doesn't have a microphone button on it, then it's a simple remote. You can see if it's transmitting anything by pointing it at a digital camera like the one in your phone. You should a glow or flashes from the remote on the camera's screen when you press buttons on the remote. If there's no flashes, either the batteries are dead, the remote is dead, or the receiver in the TV is dead. It's very rare for that last one, but not unheard of. Many cheap universal remotes support Roku TVs or you can get the simple remote for Roku TVs from Roku:

@deslanise- Also check that you installed the new batteries in the proper orientation. There should be a diagram inside the battery compartment.
