Brand new Ultra model Roku. Is initial charging of the remote required and if so, for how long? How do I know when to recharge the remote in the future?
Hi @RhymeGuy001,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We are happy to provide you with more information about the Roku rechargeable remote.
You don't need to charge the Roku rechargeable remote before its first use, as it already comes powered. To find out when it's time to charge your remote, your Roku device will display an on-screen message indicating that the rechargeable lithium-ion battery is low on power.
A full charge takes roughly 3 hours and lasts about 2 months with normal usage.

You can check the charge level on a Roku Remote via "Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > [click on your remote] > About" on your Roku.
If I don't want to exit what I am watching just to check the charge level while charging, I just unplug from the charge cord and observe the popup that usually (not always) appears on the upper right corner of the screen. [Unfortunately this only seems to work with my original VR Pro. My VR Pro 2nd edition doesn't seem to give me this popup..]
It should pop up an onscreen warning when the charge gets too low.
