Move remote to a different Roku device

Hi,

I just bought a new remote for one of my existing Roku devices. I paired it with no problem.

I want to pair the old remote to a different Roku device. Before trying to do so, I ascertained that the remote I wish to pair is compatible with the device.

Using the existing remote, I went to Settings --> Remotes and Devices --> Remotes --> Add a new remote, and followed the instructions (several times). I cannot get it to work.

I'd appreciate any advice about how to do this. Thanks.

Re: Move remote to a different Roku device

Assuming this is not a remote that controls by infrared signals and just works without the need to be linked (in fact cannot be linked)...

Remotes that control via WiFi are linked to the Roku they are to control.  When pairing, they can get confused if they detect multiple Rokus with which they can be paired.  You may need to pull the power from the other Rokus while pairing the remote to the desired Roku.  Once paired you can plug them all back in.
