Voice remote pro inconsistant charge level indication

Model RC 501.  EDIT: model RCB1R. Voice remote pro 2nd edition.  Was at 34% on the settings screen.  I plugged it in.  After a minute or so I unplugged it to move the cord closer to me and a display popped up showing 100% charge.  I did not know which display to trust so I left it plugged in for a few hours and the display in the settings showed 100%.
Now 4 days later it is back to 34%. I plugged it in for less than a minute and it now shows 96% in the settings.
By the way, before plugging it in this time, I followed the remote reset instructions given to me in my other thread to address a microphone issue.

Disregard the “last used” date in the photo.  That photo was taken March 15 and the remote was in use on March 14, so that looks like another glitch

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

@Pittpa I have noticed something similar over the last couple of updates.  I think there is a possible bug in the recent firmware update that is not correctly reporting the battery level.

How many remotes do you have linked to that Roku?   Be sure you are viewing the page for the Remote you are currently using.

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

Hi, @Pittpa

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Our team would like to take a closer look at this. Can you share us with the details below:

  • What specific Roku device model and serial is connected with the Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd Edition)?
  • When did you first encountered the issue?
  • What is your current Roku OS version?

I hope for your response.

Thanks,
Roku Community Team.

Only one remote is connected.  The original remote is sitting in a drawer with no batteries.

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

I have 2 units in addition to this Ultra and 3 other remotes.  Only this remote is linked to this Ultra.  All other remotes have had batteries removed before this happened.  I am checking with neighbors in my high rise to see if anybody has a Roku with voice remote

And another thing happened.  My Roku setting screen shows a different remote model from what it showed this morning.  Not sure of the significance.  My remote's box shows RCB1R on the SKU.

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

Roku Ultra Model 4800X, serial XO10006CRJV6.  This first started Friday night March 14, 2025.

ROKU software version is 14.1

Please see my additional issue noted in my other reply regarding the RC model # showing on the settings display.  Not the same as this morning.  Was showing RC506 on Friday now showing RC1072.

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

Hey, @Pittpa

We got an update from our team and would like to suggest a step.

Follow the instructions below:

Remove the remote from the device list

  1. Navigate to Settings > Remote and Devices > Remotes.
  2. Select the remote model you are no longer using.
  3. Proceed with "Forget Remote" and follow the on-screen instructions.

This allows the Roku device to only recognize your current remote.

Keep us posted.

Thanks,
Roku Community Team.

Re: Voice remote pro inconstant charge level indication

I checked.  This is the only remote on the list, so presumably I removed the previous remote when I set up this new one.
