I have an old 2017 Roku Stick, and have tried 3x to get a new remote for it. I was told after two failed attempts to get a voice remote. I went through the pairing process and it connected, but then none of the buttons work afterward. The remote does not function outside of pairing.

We appreciate you letting us know about your remote concern. We're here to be of assistance. 

In this case, may we first know where you purchased your new Roku voice remote? Also, let's try to remove the existing paired remote to your Roku streaming stick by navigating to your Home screen. Scroll up or down to select Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > Remove the unwanted remote. 

After doing so, and you are still unable to use your remote, we highly suggest pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds to reset it. Re-pair it again to see if this will make any difference.
