TV's speakers and Roku's volume control buttons

Jump to solution

This problem just started

All of sudden, when using the volume buttons on the side of the Roku remote, a loud voice from the TV's speakers lets me know how high or low the volume has been changed to.

The TV's speakers are used for sound, the Roku remote is paired to the TV.

It has been working fine for a few years but now the volume problem is driving me crazy.

The Screen Reader is checked OFF

HELP

Any ideas?????

@JimShaw, some TVs turn on the "feature" with a long press of the Mute button.  I don't know if a long press will turn it back off or if you have to go through the TV's menus.

A big thank you

I held the TV's remote mute button down for one minute and that did it.

Now, when the Roku's volume buttons are pressed, all I hear is silence from the TV telling me how high or low the volume is

@JimShaw

You programmed the Roku remote for your TV brand, it's now emitting tv commands, so this is your TV problem, not a Roku problem. Do you have an original Tv remote? Does it do the same thing when using that as well?

I figured it was the TV's problem but could not find anything in the Sony TV's system to shut it off.

I'll go back in and look once more.

If I still cannot find anything, I'll call Sony

Thanks for your input

Very strange that the TV all of a sudden started doing that
