Have an old Samsung (LN-S405D) that still keeps plugging away. It's been working perfectly fine with my Roku Stick, until yesterday. I went to turn the TV off, and nothing. I had to use the TV remote. Tried re-pairing, tried factory reset. Every time I try pairing the remote, it goes through eight "codes" where the music never stops playing, and then just gives up that it cannot be setup. This didn't happen before. The TV is too old to receive any software updates. The only variable might be the software running on the stick. Looks like it's version 12. Chat Support was useless. They persisted that they couldn't help me until CEC was setup on the TV - they didn't pay any attention to the fact that CEC DOESN'T EXIST ON THIS TV, BUT WORKED FINE BEFORE! Thoughts anyone?
When you go through the setup, try answering incorrectly regarding the music. (this is trying to find the mute button).
I had this happen on a Mitsubishi. I lied to it. The Power and Volume buttons worked properly. You may have to find which code you need to answer incorrect to. (could be code 1, code 5, code 9).
Also, make sure you are reading the screen correctly. The language changed from previous OS builds regarding the music which confuses some users. (I think the old method asked if music stopped, and the new method asks if music is still playing. Or vice-versa. Just make sure you are reading the question correctly as well as answering incorrectly and see if that helps your issue.)
Thank you for the reply and suggestion.
I did try that (taking special note on the wording of the questions), but still no luck.
Try switching your brand to Westinghouse, its been known to use the Samsung code set.
