Simple Roku remote stopped scrolling through apps

Hi.

I have a simple Roku remote (3 or 4 years old ??)that all of a sudden stopped scrolling through the apps on the home page. I can use it on Live TV, on the search feature, etc. But not on the apps. It goes to the first app and then does not move up, down, or sideways. Additionally, the remote feature on my iPhone Roku app does the same thing.

I changed batteries twice, unplugged and replugged the Roku from the outlet, without any change.

Is there any other troubleshooting that I can do? Do I need a new Roku remote?

Re: Simple Roku remote stopped scrolling through apps

If the mobile app does the same thing, it's not the remote. You can try a "System restart" from Settings->System or Settings->System->Power (as appropriate), but if you've removed the power briefly it's pretty much the same thing.  You should also check for updates under Settings->System.

I had a similar problem, but pressing right on the remote would move past the app icons to the ad on the left side of the Home Screen.  I hid most, if not all, of the items listed under Settings->Home screen and that seemed to fix it.
