Fixed it...Samsung TV volume/power button not working. Go to Samsung TV setting using the Samsung remote scroll to device setup. Look for the non cable box setting/ may say game console select it. A separate roku box should pop up and prompt you to use the roku remote- follow the prompts to complete the setup for the volume and power buttons.

Must use the Samsung remote and ADD the device to the tv . Once added Samsung will pop up a Roku window to prompt you to walk through the steps of pairing the ROKU remote.
We just got a new Roku Voice Remote to replace our older remote that was having difficulties reacting after many years of use. The new remote will power the TV and Roku Ultra on, but it will not power it off. The TV is a Samsung. I went through the setup using the "Can you hear the music" option and through all the choices, the music never turned off. We do use a Soundbar so not sure if that had anything to do with it. However, I can use the voice option and say, "Turn off system" and it turns the TV and the Roku off. The red "power" button does nothing, however it worked fine with our old remote. Is there something else we can do to get it to work?
Have you used the samsung remote to add the device to the Samsung TV?
.
Ok. Now that I'm in here and I don't have to try signing in again (I hope), I'll try to reply again for the third time.
No. I'd have to look for the Samsung Remote, haven't used it since we got rid of cable years ago.
That said, I find it odd the Voice Command will turn the TV off, but the button won't. Something's recognizing the remote. As far as volume and other features go, we don't use those because we have a soundbar with subwoofer and it probably won't control that in any case.
Our old remote is exactly the same as this one except for different channel shorcuts, which we never used. The old one worked with the button, this one won't.
@Patty1515, try setting up the remote for TV control again. It will have the option for CEC or IR. If the voice command can turn off the TV, CEC should work. If the soundbar is connected via HDMI ARC, the volume buttons should also work.

Sorry to hear that. I can only speak to what worked for me. I spent days of research plus a new 128 dollar roku device until I realized my device had to be programmed to my tv with my samsung remote. I kept the new device 😎 though. I like it's features.
