Roku voice remote pro not working and green light no longer comes on when I try to charge it

Hello I did all the instructions above and my remote is working, then after about 1 hour the green light on the back is steady on. So I have to press button on the back and wait until it goes off for the remote to start working again. Do I have to do this all the time that I need to use Roku?
