Roku remote Unpairs after TV is turned off

Jump to solution

Purchased New Sony 65" TV model # K65XR80 4K OLED Google.  I can pair the ROKU remote (4k streaming stick and remote); however, the remote unpairs when the TV is turned off (for about 5 to 10 minutes).  I have to use the Sony remote to turn the TV back on, at which time the ROKU remote will automatically re pair and control the Sony TV, including the Roku power off feature.  The Roku remote will then be able to turn the TV on and off.  However, once I power the TV off using the ROKU remote and leave idle for the 5 to ten minutes, it unpairs.  Thoughts?  It is as if the ROKU remote goes into hibernation

Are you powering the stick via the TV's USB port?  Did you set up the Roku remote to control the TV via IR or CEC?

Yes. It is plugged into the tvs’s USB port.  As to the set up of the Roku remote to control the TV via IR or CEC…I have done both. Currently on CEC. In CEC, I also turned off one-touch feature and this set up has given me the best capabilities.

I'd advise using the supplied USB power adapter plugged into the wall.  Your TV probably removes power from the USB port after a few minutes, so CEC won't work since it requires the stick to be powered up.  IR control should work since it doesn't need the stick at all, but I'd still recommend using the supplied power adapter if you want to avoid strange issues that can result from an insufficient power source.
