Is your Roku remote refusing to pair? Don't worry, this guide will help you get it working again!

If your remote has a voice button, you have a Roku voice remote. If it does not, you have a Roku simple remote.
Do I need to pair a Roku Player Remote?
No, Roku Player remote or simple remote, remote, you only need to insert new matching batteries, remove the battery pull tab, and point the remote at the front of your Roku device—it's that simple!
Here are some steps that can help resolve the issue:
Remotes with Removable Batteries
- Put the streaming device in pairing mode:
- Remove the power cable from the streaming device
- Wait at least 5 seconds
- Re-connect the power cable
- Wait for the streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on the TV screen
- Within 30 seconds of seeing the Home screen on the TV screen, the voice remote into pairing mode
- Put the voice remote in pairing mode:
- Remove the battery cover on the back of the voice remote
- Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
- Wait 5 seconds and then reinsert the batteries
- If the remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until the status light begins to flash.
- If the remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold both the Home and Back button for 5 seconds, or until the status light begins to flash.
- Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with your streaming device.
- If the remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold both the Home
button and Back button for 5 seconds, or until the status light begins to flash
- Once your streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on your TV screen.
Replace your remote batteries
- Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
- Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
- Replace the batteries with a new matching pair and test again
Voice Remote Pro
- Put the streaming device in pairing mode:
- Remove the power cable from the streaming device
- Wait at least 5 seconds
- Re-connect the power cable
- Wait for your streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on the TV screen
- Within 30 seconds of seeing the Home screen on the TV screen, put your voice remote into pairing mode
Put the voice remote in pairing mode:
- Press and hold the pairing button on your voice remote for 20 seconds. The status light should slowly flash green, stop, and then flash rapidly. When this happens, release the pairing button and the remote will restart.
- Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash. If the light does not flash, charge the remote.
- Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with the streaming device.
Once the streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on the TV screen.
Recharge the voice remote
- If not already attempted to recharge the voice remote:
- Connect the small, micro-USB end of the charging cable to the charging port on the remote
- Connect the other end to a standard USB power adaptor
- The status light will flash slowly when charging and change to a solid green when complete
If the status light does not begin to flash within a few seconds, try an alternate charging cable and power adaptor. Remember to use the Roku-provided micro-USB cable that comes with the voice remote for the best results. If still having issues, please restart the device and try again.
