I have three other TVs with Roku and needed it for a fourth. Went into Walmart and bought Express. My bad because I didn't read the fine print. I'd like a full service remote and wanted to see if I could just buy one and switch. But Express doesn't offer support! Seriously? WTF!!!! How can I find out the answer? Or do I just return the Express BS and buy full service Roku? Yes, I'm frustrated by this complete idiocy.
Only the original model of express the 3700 won't work with wifi Roku remote, all express models then after can be used with wifi voice remote. If you go into the settings and see an option Remote & devices, it can be paired to wifi remote with tv controls. If you can return the express, the express+ can be have for $24.99 and it comes with wifi voice remote:
Roku Express 4K+ | 4K & HDR Streaming Device | Roku
You can buy voice remotes separately for $19.88:
Amazon.com: Roku Voice Remote (Official) for Roku Players, Roku Audio, and Roku TV : Electronics
The Roku Express 4k+ is on sale at Walmart for $25. This device will come with a better remote called the Voice Remote (TV controls for power, volume/mute, and also Voice Search).
Walmart also has the Ultra on sale ($69) and comes with a rechargeable Voice remote Pro, or the UltraLT (walmart exclusive device, $52) that come with a Voice Remote. (same as the Express 4k/4k+). Walmart is also carrying the Streaming Stick 4k for $30 that comes with a Voice remote.
The Voice Remote and the Voice Remote Pro are the Roku remotes that provide TV controls and Voice Search. That is about as "full service" as Roku remotes get.
If you just need a nice basic streamer, I think the Express 4k+ is a decent device. (normally $40, so the $25 price is pretty good). The Ultra and Ultra LT will give you a faster device for about twice the amount of price. As for the Streaming Sticks, I don't really like that they need a proprietary cable that contains a wireless receiver to be used and replaced at $25 if they fail. If the other streaming players listed above need cables replaced, you can pick them up anywhere for a few dollars.
Alternatively, you can also buy a Roku Voice remote ($20) at Walmart that will work with any Roku device or RokuTV. However, with the current sales running, you should just purchase a better device that comes with the Voice Remote already included.
