I purchased the original Roku Pro Remote about a year ago. At the time I only needed one for the bedroom. Yesterday, due to need, I went online to purchase another one and found that there is now a 2nd Edition of the device. Upon reviewing before purchasing I noticed that the headphone jack had been removed from the features. WHY??? When a Company like yours has a successful product, would you change it? I have been a Roku customer since your first model and have recommended them over the years to family and friends, who also purchased Roku. Due to this loss of a feature I am forced to buy a substandard product, TV Ears for myself and my husband. Moral: Don't mess with perfection.
I did not think of the issue of traveling with a Roku device now that headphone jacks are no longer available on the 2nd Edition remote. This is just another reason not to purchase Roku devices in the future.
You can still purchase the original Voice Remote Pro V1. Roku has not discontinued it.

You mean they haven't discontinued it yet.
Very frustrating to buy a second Roku - excited for the backlit remote - and then find I have no headphone jack.
With a little creativity I have found the Bluetooth feature be very helpful with the remote pro two and the 4802X Roku device. I connect to three different types of headphones and using an old iPhone I use the Bluetooth feature to connect to large speakers.
I like the glowing keys of the pro two and the longer battery life.
if that is not for you, you can purchase the original Voice Remote Pro V1.

When I set up a person’s Roku system for them, I make sure they buy a Roku pro two with the glowing keys and the launch button, and I set up their favorite channels. They don’t seem to feel shorted without a headphone jack because we have other ways of newer technology to accomplish that.

I already have a Roku Pro v1 and appreciate the convenience of using the headphone jack. After I I purchased it, I made the suggestion to Roku that the remote keys should be backlit.
I didn’t have the need to hire a Roku guru, and shouldn’t have to in order to set up a simple device with the basic features that it should already have.

Sorry for the late response, but I just saw this.
I've been very pleased with these inexpensive wired earphones:
