so i lost the remote to my roku device and it isn’t set up to my new wifi yet so i can’t use the roku app for the remote. what options do i have?
If its 3500 stick, none. If it accepts IR commands(non-stick) a cheap universal remote would do. If it a newer stick you can purchase wifi remote from walmart, best buy, or on-line on amazon. In other words you NEED a remote.

Or....you replicate your old wifi settings in the router so that it connects, once connected you can use the app to change the roku to what settings you now want.
With the number of lost/forgotten remotes Im thinking Roku needs to make them bigger or attach them by chain to something like a bathroom key at a gas station.
It's as common as leaving a phone charger at home. Our modern society.
Is there anyway to connect my roku to my labtop via usb or hdmi to access the settings there
No.
I downloaded the free Roku remote control app for my iPad and it provided the means to do all the required functions until I reprogrammed my remote control.
So what do I do to connect it to my new WiFi
You lost the Roku remote controller - correct? If correct, what are you trying to connect to your wifi? If you can fully explain your problem, I or some wizard on this forum, may be able to help you. Additionally, the model # of your Roku streaming device may be helpful.

I have access to
my roku via the app on my phone - but I got a new router so I need to connect the stick
to
my new router - can that be done via the app?
Nope. There's at least a hundred threads here that ask the same thing. Unless you can set up your new router exactly like your old one, you need a remote.
