It depends on the model of express, if it's a 3700/3710, then no Roku remote that controls any tv will work with IR only 3700/3710 express/express+. Later express models can be paired with Wifi voice remote, which are the only type with tv controls.
Of course, a cheap IR universal remote from target, walmart or the dollar store that has Roku listed will control any express model by IR and benefit it will control your tv too.
