Home button on Roku remote has stopped working

Jump to solution

I have tried new batteries, unplugging the Roku device from the power, unplugging the TV from the power. I’ve had the Roku device less than 2 weeks and it was working ok. Earlier today I had to put my wifi password in with the remote and it did that ok but the home button hasn’t worked for the last couple of days. I tried to use my iPhone as a control but it’s saying I have no devices. When I tried to put my IP address in when connecting manually it says my IP address is incorrect. WiFi is working. Not sure what more I can check or do. Remote is a standard one, no parring option

Before we proceed, could you please tell us which Roku device you have? Also, could you please share with us the type of Roku remote you have? Is there a pairing button at the back of the remote?

To help you resolve these remote issues, we recommend following these troubleshooting steps:

Restart Your Streaming Device:
- Begin by unplugging the power cord from your streaming device.
- Please wait at least 5 seconds.
- Then, reconnect the power cord.

Reset your Roku Remote: If your voice remote uses standard AA or AAA alkaline batteries, you can reboot it by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  3. Re-insert the negative (-) end of a battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  4. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  5. Put the battery cover back on your remote
If your voice remote has a rechargeable battery, follow the steps below below to reboot your remote
  • If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
  • If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home for 20 seconds.
Note: For optimal results, please direct the remote towards the device you wish to pair.

This should resolve the issue you are experiencing; however, if it is still unresolved, please reply, and we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,
Jharra
